Keno Kuoma, a journalist, investigates the murder of his colleague Winston Kipeki. He discovers that the suspected perpetrator, who has since also been murdered in prison, was innocent. In the process, he gets on the trail of the boss of a widespread poaching ring. His paths cross again with Osenka and Oringinga. It is only when his son is kidnapped that he suspects another head of this smuggling organisation.
