I liked arts and crafts from a very young age, but there was never any understanding or conversations about how that talent or interest can become a career some day. I was that one kid in class that could always draw. I remember drawing pen tattoos on the hands and arms of my classmates in secondary school, my artwork was the cover of my graduation year book, and I also created hand-drawn posters for concerts on campus in college.

During my final semester in college, while studying computer science, I saw a t-shirt on campus with "Graphics designed by..." printed on the back just below the collar with the designer's name. That simple moment was when I made the connection that people get paid to design things. That set me on my journey to pursue design. Not being able to find any programs of study related to design at the time in the Caribbean, I moved to New York.

Ron is a creative professional originally from the island of Barbados. Ron was raised by his mom Losell, and has one sister, Lafleur. He got his early education at Eden Lodge Primary School and Combermere Secondary School. He then graduated with honors from The University of The West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, with a BS in Computer Science.

Following graduation, Ron moved to New York to pursue a career in Graphic Design. Continuing his studies at Pratt Institute, Manhattan, he completed an AOS in Digital Design
& Interactive Media, followed by a Masters in Communications Design. Ron discovered the field of advertising while at Pratt Institute where he was awarded a 4As Advertising Scholarship.

Over the years he has served as a Visiting Instructor at Miami Ad School and at Pratt Institute. In his spare time Ron volunteers as a mentor for aspiring young professionals from underserved communities and runs DiverseCreatives.com.This is an initiative Ron and Walter T. Geer III, co-founded in 2020 to spotlight creatives of color in the ad industry to call attention to the need for diversity in creative departments across the industry.

Ron lives in Brooklyn, New York, with his wife Azurée,
and young son Grayson, who inspired him to create books like this one.
