Dark tourism is steadily growing in popularity across the world, in this article we look at what possibly could be considered dark tourism in Zimbabwe and how it may benefit the industry in the future.
INTRODUCTION
Dark tourism is defined as travel historically associated with death and tragedy. Though in recent times the definition of what exactly encompasses the boundaries of dark tourism, also commonly known as black tourism, is now much broader. A classic example of a modern-day dark tourism site would have to be Auschwitz, the German concentration camp during world war era. Coming closer to home, the country of Rwanda boasts many historical sites, in particular, the Kigali Genocide memorial Centre in Gisozi.
