As to the form which this volume has taken, that, namely, of Letters addressed to an anglo-catholic, it may be said that it arose out of an actual correspond ence with a Churchman on one of the subjects here treated, in the course of which I recognised consider able advantages in such a form. It has been employed in connection with this controversy by Canon Knox Little and M. Edmond Scherer, to speak only or moderns.
