In the first five chapters such well known plays as Ostrovskij's \u003ci\u003eThe Thunderstorm,\u003c\/i\u003e Turgenev's \u003ci\u003eA Month in the Country\u003c\/i\u003e and Gogol's \u003ci\u003eThe Inspector-General\u003c\/i\u003e are discussed, alternatively with Stowacki's \u003ci\u003eFantazy\u003c\/i\u003e and some of Fredro's comedies. Special chapters are devoted to the performance of drama, and to some urgent issues concerning the structure of semiotic space.
