Jon Waldo was born in Litchfield, Connecticut in 1957. He is a Manhattan-based artist known for using multiple mediums, including photography, ceramics, and for developing a painting technique in which he uses hand-cut stencils made from line drawings of everyday objects.

Waldo received his BFA from Pratt Institute. His work has been exhibited at The Linda Warren Gallery,  Wave Hill, The LeRoy Neiman Gallery at Columbia University, PS122,  Art Chicago Onsite Exhibition, La Mama La Galleria, and The Hopper House. Waldo's art has been published in The Architectural Digest, The New York Times, Brooklyn Rail, Art and Antiques, and "The Moment After:  Postmodernism Art Finds a New Soul" ARTicles  National Arts Journalism Program, 2002
