Their arrival is heralded by Elrod Sykes, a besotted Hollywood movie star with a penchant for self-destruction; “Baby Feet” Balboni, a Mafioso capo back in town to spread money and mayhem around; a 30-year-old corpse; a fresh corpse; and a long-dead Confederate cavalry officer who emerges out of the mist of the bayou with some prophetic warnings.
