Debra Reddin van Tuyll is Professor Emerita at Augusta University Press. She is the author of nine books, most of which deal with the Civil War-era press. Her co-edited work, Knights of the Quill: Confederate Correspondents and Their Civil War Reporting, was a finalist for the 2011 Tankard Award for the Best Book in Journalism, and she was the 2019 winner of the Kobre Award for lifetime achievement in journalism history.

Mary M. Cronin is a Professor in the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at New Mexico State University. She is the author of five other books, most of which examine nineteenth-century press issues.
