Reviews

Compelling!

"I’ve been slow to get through books lately but I couldn’t put Eli Sharabi’s book down. You can feel his determination and courage through every page. He was going through hell on Earth but still had the humanity to help the younger hostages deal with the horrors. Such an important book should be shared with students today. May he prosper and thrive after losing so much."

Hostage- Horrific and Tragic yet Inspiring

"I had anxiously awaited the English translation of Hostage- I read it in one sitting. The events of October 7- and his 500 plus days of captivity are a chilling portrait of the evils that humans are capable of- and yet Eli Sharabi is a hero of our generation- his beliefs are admirable and the way he tried to help the other hostages is such an inspiration. But more than anything to read of the strength of character that he possesses and how he chooses to now carry on after having lost so much, is a must read for everyone."

Exceptional

"Hostage is a truly exceptional book written by a seemingly “regular kibbutznik,” yet clearly a remarkable person. Eli Sharabi’s account is heartbreaking, harrowing, and deeply human. I couldn’t put it down. His unimaginable experiences are told with such raw honesty and vividness that they pull you right into his world and leave you transformed. This book is a powerful testament to survival, faith, and the enduring strength of the human spirit in the face of monstrous brutality and systemic dehumanization."

Gripping, fascinating and inspiring account of survival and resilience in the face of terror.

"A must read for anyone with an interest in the Israel-Hamas war, and should be compulsory reading in schools. Eli Sharabi describes the horrific conditions and treatment he endured while in Hamas captivity, and the strategies he employed to survive, and help his fellow captives survive. His strength, resilience and determination are inspiring. He also describes the glimpses of humanity he saw in his captors, while fully understanding the depth of their brainwashing, hatred and cruelty."
