Not so very long ago, Eragon—Shadeslayer, Dragon Rider—was nothing more than a poor farm boy, and his dragon, Saphira, only a blue stone in the forest. Now the fate of an entire civilization rests on their shoulders.
Long months of training and battle have brought victories and hope, but they have also brought heartbreaking loss. And still, the real battle lies ahead: they must defeat Galbatorix. There will be no second chances. The Rider and his dragon have come further than anyone dared to hope. But can they topple the evil king and restore justice to Alagaësia? And if so, at what cost?

A great ending
"At first, I was not sure to like this ending. It is kind of hard to find a satisfiying ending to such a serie. We all have such high expectations. . . But them I took the time to read the book a second time after a few months a I really appreciate it. I also leaves the door open for a new serie. . (maybe?)."

"A thrilling conclusion. A great wrap up of the series."
— Taylor (5/5)
Amazing!
"Really amazing conclusion to the story! I loved how the story continued for a long time (at least 100 pages) after the battle ended. It made the story feel more complete, though the ending was still sad and seemed a bit too like a cliff-hanger for a good and proper ending. This book was definitely the most exciting in the series (duh) and the longest. Reading it made me want to reread the whole series all over again!!"
— Bookworm (5/5)

One of the best in the cycle!
"A lot of Paolini's writing and plagiarism problems were resolved in this novel. Originally, I did not like the ending, but after a few years to think about it, I realize I actually really appreciate how it ends. Despite the series' flaws, it is a worthwhile read and I'd recommend it to any fans of fantasy."
— Nate (4/5)
A strong ending for a great series.
"A bitter-sweet ending that ties up loose ends, but also leaves great jumping off points for other series. The characters and adventures will keep your attention until the last page!"
