Perfect summer read!

"Lost Village is a brilliantly conceived queer coming-of-age murder mystery set in 1973. This fast-paced thriller dissects the underbelly of small town life with precision and a suitable amount of dark humour. Author Michael Saver meticulously captures an era marked by transformative social change in this fictional ‘good vs. evil’ novel inspired by real events. It is a universal story that is quintessentially Canadian and the perfect summer read. The first installment of a promising series, Lost Village is more than entertaining; it has substance and is grounded by well rounded characters that lift off of every page. It is a timeless tale about the bonds of friendship and young love backed by a glam rock soundtrack that will have you coming back for more."

Can’t wait for the second book!

"Lost Village is one of those books you keep telling yourself you’ll put down after “just one more chapter,” and then suddenly an hour has passed. Following the Three Smart Boys through their challenges made for a genuinely engaging read, and the story’s underlying message woven throughout was powerful. I’m can’t wait to see where things go in the second book!"

Gripping, sensitive, and compassionate.

"This is such a great book and not not only because it is a gripping mystery. It is a deep and sensitive exploration of character; it treats all its subjects with empathy and respect; and leads to compassionate justice. The historical setting is a fascinating one and the cultural references are so much fun. I can't wait to see what happens next in Conawalki."

Fantastic First Novel

"What I love most about this story are the young characters who grapple with questions of identity, integrity, and friendship amidst the backdrop of violence and displacement. If you are looking for a book that is easy to love and hard to put down, pick up this gem of a first novel. I'm now eagerly awaiting Book 2 of the Conwalki Murder Mysteries!"

Marvellous and tender mystery

"Lost Village is a marvellous, deeply compassionate mystery that drew me in from the start. Michael Saver writes with sensitivity, precision, and emotional depth. And the plot! I had to stop myself from reading straight through the night. Saver approaches personal turmoil, violence, and social tension with tenderness and balance. He weaves in 1970s pop culture references and creates a strong sense of place and how it shapes our lives. I can’t wait to see what he writes next."

A Mystery with Heart

"A story with a little bit of everything! The mystery of Lost Village had me hooked from the start. This novel is rich with history both in music and it's setting. Each character had a purpose and the author's descriptions helped their personalities jump off the page. I felt as though I could have been there on a late spring night in Conawalki hanging with ""The Three Smart Boys"". I can't wait for the next book."

A Must Read From a Talented Canadian Voice

"Just finished this book and couldn’t put it down! A gripping, atmospheric, and unforgettable story that’s made even better by its Ontario setting. Loved discovering a talented local Canadian storyteller. Always happy to support Canadian authors!"
