Big hearted surprising and cinematic

"Emma Grey writes big-hearted surprising and cinematic books. Start at the End fits well in her oeuvre. This is a very cinematic book with a palpable Hollywood feel (literally, given the events toward the end of the book). Imagine Notting Hill crossed with Sliding Doors. Grey excels at witty banter and offers some terrific feel good love stories. But forewarned - there is also grief (a lot of grief), heartbreak, marital breakdown, mental health issues, and addiction. That Grey can wrap all of this up into an enjoyable reading experience is testament to her skill as a writer."

“A powerful, romantic drama about love and loss. Emma Grey is so skilled at navigating relationships and tragedy, imbuing her stories with such feeling, wisdom, and originality. This one will keep you guessing right until the end, with a sliding-doors twist that kept me turning the pages late into the night.”
—Sophie Cousens, author of This Time Next Year

"Emma Grey is a talented, beautiful writer, full of wit and wisdom and brilliant observations. I loved this book immensely and got the feeling that I have not had in a very long time: of not wanting it to end, of wanting to know everything."
—Robinne Lee, author of The Idea of You

Start at the End is a tour de force of honest humanity. I was utterly enthralled by these characters who leap off the page and this premise which so masterfully explores the question of fate. Emma Grey’s writing cuts straight to the heart, leaving the reader in awe of the complicated gifts of life and love. Somehow, this book is both an immersive escape and a bold confrontation of reality at the same time. I was swept away and will not soon forget it.”
—Sarah Damoff, author of The Bright Years

"Captivating and original, this exquisitely crafted story sits in the ache of loss and gently shows us how to breathe again. Emma Grey writes as though emotion itself is her native tongue.”
—Anna Johnston, author of The Borrowed Life of Frederick Fife

“The chemistry between the narrators and the characters is incredibly powerful as the book tackles forgiveness, family, loss, love, and second chances. A moving listening experience that will stay with listeners long after the final chapter.”
Kirkus Audiobook Review

"Powerful, perceptive, and cleverly woven, Emma Grey’s Start at the End is a luminous, must-read novel about love, loss, and those sliding doors moments that can transform a life. Fiction doesn’t come with more heart, humour, or hard-won truth than this. I loved it."
—Hannah Richell, author of The Search Party

"A new novel by Emma Grey always goes straight to the top of my TBR list! Warm, wise, and wonderful. I could not love her books more."
—Alexandra Potter, author of Confessions of a Forty-Something F##k Up

“Equal parts tender, hilarious, and achingly perceptive, Start at the End broke my heart, and then swiftly put it back together again. I laughed, I ugly-cried, I absolutely loved it!”
—Pip Drysdale, author of The Close-Up

“Emma Grey is an expert at pulling at the heartstrings. A compelling and emotionally rich story that celebrates love in all its wonderful and complicated forms. Start at the End is a warm, emotionally layered novel with characters you can't help but invest in.”
—Rachael Johns, author of The Lucky Sisters

“Emma Grey has done it again. Start at the End is devastating, hopeful, and deeply human. This book should come with a handkerchief and a tub of ice cream.”
—Jane Tara, author of Tilda is Visible

“Emma Grey's delicate balance of light and shade in her storytelling is nothing short of genius.”
—Tess Woods, author of The Venice Hotel
