"Prepare to meet your next obsession." — Rebecca Ross, author of Divine Rivals
From New York Times bestselling author Rachel Gillig comes the next big romantasy sensation, a gothic, mist-cloaked tale of a young prophetess forced on an impossible quest with the one knight whose future is beyond her sight.
Sybil Delling has spent nine years dreaming of having no dreams at all. Like the other foundling girls who traded a decade of service for a home in the great cathedral, Sybil is a Diviner. In her dreams she receives visions from six unearthly figures known as Omens. From them, she can predict terrible things before they occur, and lords and common folk alike travel across the kingdom of Traum’s windswept moors to learn their futures by her dreams.
Just as she and her sister Diviners near the end of their service, a mysterious knight arrives at the cathedral. Rude, heretical, and devilishly handsome, the knight Rodrick has no respect for Sybil's visions. But when Sybil's fellow Diviners begin to vanish one by one, she has no choice but to seek his help in finding them. For the world outside the cathedral’s cloister is wrought with peril. Only the gods have the answers she is seeking, and as much as she'd rather avoid Rodrick's dark eyes and sharp tongue, only a heretic can defeat a god.

Atmospheric with Semi-Slow Burn Romance
"he Knight and the Moth drew me in immediately with its languid descriptions of the cathedral and its setting on the tor (though I did have to Google some terms referencing the church's structure). She really set the gothic, but airy atmosphere. I appreciated the absence of modern language. It’s rare in romantic fantasy these days and nothing pulls me out of a story faster than a word or phrase that exists from modern pop culture. The magic is simple and is pretty much restricted to the action sequences. The story is less about the magic and more about religion. The way belief systems shape behaviour, power, and sacrifice, especially how far people are willing to go to stay in their gods’ favour or be seen as chosen. The romance is a semi-slow burn and it's very well done. It starts with mutual distaste, softens into friendly banter, and slowly turns into hesitant yearning and affection. Six is such a refreshing main character, physically strong not because of magic or combat training, but because years of hard labour have made her capable and resilient. Rory is equally well done. His mix of strength, humour, and gentleness is just perfect, and I loved the quiet, subtle ways we see him fall for Six. He believes in her abilities completely, while still wanting to protect her from harm, and it's just so endearing. And the Gargoyle! One of the most precious characters I’ve encountered in a long time. Stupidly confident, innocently rude, and genuinely caring, he stole every scene he was in. I love him. I love him. I love him! Rachel Gillig is a favourite. Her atmospheric writing, slow-burn romances, and thoughtful inclusion of complicated non-human characters just does it for me. If you love moody settings, simple magics, witty quips, and romance that simmers instead of rushes, this one is absolutely worth your time."

Best book of the year
"This book is exquisite. A beautiful story, a delightful and inventive magical system. The characters are so well thought out and hard not to adore. Perfect for fantasy, romantasy, romance, or fiction lovers who adore well written and meaningful stories. So well thought out."

More of the same
"Having read the Shepherd King duology beforehand, to me this was just more of the same. The main character goes through the same arc/storyline with the romantic lead and so the redundancy took away my interest. I was left with an immersive atmosphere and fun side character, but nothing more. If this is your first Rachel Gillig then you might love it"

Easy Cute Read
"I thoroughly enjoyed this read but the ending was highly predictable to me. My favorite part was a gargoyle that follows the MFC around. It’s an extremely SLOW burn; to the point I thought it wasn’t going to happen. I wouldn’t have been disappointed if it hadn’t because the storyline was strong enough on it’s own."

Review of The Knight and the moth
"This book had me from the very beginning. The storyline is so unique."

Gorgeous!!!
"I was very excited to pick this book up considering the success of the author’s first two novels, One Dark Window and Two Twisted Crowns. I had very high expectations for this novel and it did NOT disappoint! The characters are interesting and the plot is very immersive. Moreover, Gillig’s writing style is just so hauntingly beautiful! Aside from the content of the novel, the hardcover is just gorgeous! I would recommend!"
