Top read of 2025

"Amazing start to a series! This book had it all. A murder mystery, a perilous competition, hilarious moments, and a very cute second-chance romance. It is an ambitious new series that has me excited for the sequel."

"A beautiful story got rushed to the end. And then I found out it’s a trilogy"

Dushen678 (4/5)

Loved it

"Loved the length of the book, the characters, and the plot line. The kind of book you have a hangover from and can’t help but think about it after it’s done"

Kyra (5/5)

Fast and reliable shipping as always!

Molly (5/5)

A fantastic book!!!

"One of the best fantasy books I have ever read! This book was everything I love about a story. The characters were deep and you really got to know them and could relate to them. The plot was intricate and beautifully woven with the lore. I loved the writing, it was funny, witty and worked really well for this story. As you can tell I’m obsessed with this book. I don’t want to spoil anything, but let’s just say the main story follows contestants as they fight to be the next emperor. Don’t read the synopsis, go in blind!"

Sofia (5/5)

Great story

"Loved this engaging read. Good character development."

Jstan (5/5)

Excited for book 2!

"I really enjoyed this book! The idea o it, the pacing the humour. I enjoyed the point of view story is told from. I like how many characters didn’t just have one mood/personality side shown of them."

Erica (5/5)

Amazing

"This book is incredible, the only thing wrong with it is that the sequel isn't out yet. Incredible world building."

Naomi (5/5)

Fantastic

"Well this was MAGNIFICENT! It's hard to summarize this beast of a book, it truly is an epic fantasy. I went in blind thinking this was going to be dark academia, but much to my surprise it felt like a mix of gothic vibes sprinkled with fantasy and mystery. The characters, animal houses and writing were spectacular and intricately planned out. If you're a fan of revenge twists, trials, political and family intrigue, this book is for you. I both loved and hated Neema in parts, but she really did have such a great character arc and went through some growth. The fight scenes and trials were so well done. And the pacing! This book was 650 pages and I don't even know how the author is making this into a trilogy. I can't wait for the follow up."

Abi N. (5/5)

A Beautiful Book With A Beautiful Story

"I absolutely loved this book! The narration is really unique and the storyline keeps you hooked from page one! Would definitely recommend this to a fantasy reader who enjoys trials and a murder mystery that keeps you on your toes!"
