Great East Coast Witchy Read

"Thank you to ECW Press for a copy of The Witch of Willow Sound. Here are my thoughts! Fade is heading back to Willow Sound, Nova Scotia to look for her missing aunt, Madeline. She hasn’t heard from her for a few months and it’s unlike her. When she arrives, the beautiful cottage she grew up in is decrepit and everyone in town is calling Madeline a witch. A storm is coming and Fade only has so much time to help Madeline. I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed by an ECW Press book. They are always such rewarding reads and The Witch of Willow Sound continues this pattern. This is the perfect autumn cozy read. It’s got gothic feels that are usually associated with historical fiction or horror, and it’s blended in so well with the mystery that Fade is solving. It allows for very dark and creepy moments, but also beautifully cozy ones, especially as she reminisces on her summers at the cottage. I did some travelling to the eastern provinces a few years ago I loved it over there, but I didn’t get to experience some of the more mysterious areas of Nova Scotia that the author based some of her locations on. I think it’s time for a trip back! The side characters are fully realized. Some for the good, some for the bad. And the plot makes sense, and ties everything nicely with a bow. Definitely keep this one in mind for cozy reading season!"
