Sam’s vigorous journalism on tracking and exposing money laundering has been crucial in the national push to reform and update Canada’s laws. This book pulls his work, and indeed the work of many professionals, into one explosive narrative. Canadian lore often pitches our country as a well-meaning good partner in the world. But as Sam’s report has shown, we are a node in global systems of corruption and crime, with the infiltration and implications only becoming worse overtime. The global money laundering and corruption detailed in this book undermines Canada’s own democracy and safety, while we act as a meeting and banking hub for criminals and states to continue to repress some of the most vulnerable people around the world. And it is not only through wilful blindness that Canada has found itself in this position. Sam shows that as the money rolls in, there are enablers in Canadian intuitions that are willing to roll out the carpet for these illicit funds, horrendous impacts be damned. Hopefully Sam’s book will wake up Ottawa into realizing that global corruption systems are one of the biggest threats the world faces, perpetuating inequality, conflict, human rights violation, and environmental degradation. And we need to act accordingly. James Cohen, President – James Cohen, Transparency International, President

Uncovering Money Laundering in Vancouver, Canada

"I read this book a few months ago and was impressed with the details outlining how money laundering by Chinese cartels was accomplished while politicians, police and other government officials not only turned a blind eye but used the cartel for support in their own goals for re-election and kickbacks."

Too Long, Too Disjointed but Necessary Reading

"A revealing examination of the rot in Canadian society resulting from money laundering activities of Triads and the Chinese Communist Party centred on Canadian casinos and Canadian real estate. The book represents years of investigative journalism. Unfortunately the book is written like a stitched together series of newspaper columns with weak thematic linkages and inconsistent timelines from chapter to chapter. At 300 pages the book is probably 100 pages too long given that while it exposes the foreign roots of the problem, it soft pedals the obvious connections to Canadian politicians and leaders who either ignored the issues or are complicit. Overall the book's findings and conclusions are a sad indictment of the rule of law in Canada."

. Extreme corruption and incompetence delivered by Canada's politicians and bureaucrats

"Wilful Blindness is one of the four best books that I have ever read. As a person who was born in Vancouver, schooled in Vancouver including university and worked my entire life in Vancouver this is shocking. This read is evidence how out of control Vancouver, British Columba and Canada have become in the last three decades. Crime is poisoning all of Canada. Sam Cooper has produced all the evidence necessary to illustrate that we have gone over the waterfall. It is unlikely that we can expect any future governments to reverse and correct the actions propagated by past governments. The reaction of most citizens will certainly be that we have gone too far or that this cannot be true. The greed by current and past politicians will come home to roost. We have intentionally imported this culture from China and now we must pay for it. Shocking!"

Sad, frustrating reality.

"Easy, repetitive read, full of scary truths of what’s actually been going on at home."

"All Canadians need to be aware of how the Liberals have allowed and encouraged changing Canada into a Chinese vassal state"

Wilful Blindness

"Canada is not strong nor are we free. This book is not eye opening, its mind bending. Its relevant and it should be read by every Canadian."
