OFFICIAL RULES FOR THE WIN YOUR HEIGHT IN BOOKS KIDS CONTEST
IN-STORE & ONLINE CONTEST (THE “RULES”)
THIS CONTEST IS INTENDED FOR THE RESIDENTS OF CANADA, AND WILL BE INTERPRETED ACCORDING TO CANADIAN LAW.
Sponsor
1. The Rules apply to the “Win Your Height In Books Kids Contest” (“Contest”) sponsored and administered by Indigo Books & Music Inc. (“Indigo” or “Sponsor”).
Contest Period
2. Contest starts at 10:00 AM Eastern Time (“ET”) on June 22, 2026 and closes at 11:59 PM ET on August 22, 2026 (the “Contest Period”). Winner (as defined below) will be selected from all the eligible Entries received during the Contest Period.
Eligibility
3. The Contest is open to legal residents of Canada who at the time of entry: (i) have reached the legal age of majority in their province/territory of residence, and (ii) who are the parent or legal guardian of a child or children up to and including the age of 12 years old.
4. Indigo and its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, agents or representatives, advertising and promotion agencies, and each of their respective officers, directors and employees (collectively, the “Promotion Entities”), and their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household, are ineligible and are prohibited from entering the Contest. For the purposes of these Rules, “immediate family member” means spouse, (including common law spouse), father, mother, legal guardian, son, daughter, brother and sister of the entrant, regardless of where they reside.
How to Enter
5. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. There are two (2) ways to enter the Contest during the Contest Period:
a. In Store Entry Form. Visit the “Win Your Height in Books” designated space in the participating Indigo, Chapters, Indigospirit or Coles Store (each a “Store”) during regular business hours and complete an official contest entry form with: your first name, last name, and email address, local store name, first name, age and height of your child based on the “Win your height in books chart” (rounded to the nearest 5 books line), and complete the book review section (each a “Store Entry”) and place it in the designated entry box in Store; or
b. Online Entry Form. Visit www.indigo.ca/winbooks (where online is also considered a unique “Store”) and complete the official contest entry form with your first name, last name, and email address, first name, age and height of your child based on the “Win Your Height in Books” chart rounded to the nearest line and complete the book review section (each an “Online Entry”) and click to submit.
For purposes of these Rules, a Store Entry or an Online Entry are each an “Entry”. Each eligible individual submitting an Entry is an “Entrant” and collectively are the “Entrants”. Limit of one (1) Entry per person, per child, notwithstanding the method of Entry. If it is discovered that an Entrant attempted to Enter more than once per child, all Entries of such Entrant will be void.
6. By submitting an Entry to the Contest, each Entrant acknowledges that they have read and understood these Rules and agree to abide by and be bound by them.
Entry Verification
7. Entrants must submit Entries using only the official Entry form during the Contest Period and include the required information set out above. Indigo is not responsible for any late, incomplete or misdirected contest Entries.
8. If the identity of the Entrant is disputed, the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of Entry will be deemed to be the Entrant. The “email address holder” is the natural person who is associated with the email address. An Entrant may be required to provide proof they are the authorized holder of the email address associated with the winning Entry.
9. Entries are subject to verification at any time and may be disqualified if they are late, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, irregular, forged, submitted through illicit or unauthorized means, not original to the entrant, or if they contain any false statements or do not conform to or satisfy any condition of these Rules. The use of any device to automate the entry process is prohibited. Indigo reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual for any reason whatsoever, including any individual who is found to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest.
10. The sole determinant of time for the purposes of a valid Entry in this Contest will be the close of business hours for each Store, or Sponsor’s servers in the case of the Online Entry on August 22, 2026.
Prize Description
11. There is one (1) Grand prize available to be won at each participating Store (including the Online Store) for a total of 160 Grand Prizes. Each Grand Prize consists of:
a. up to a maximum value of $500.00 CAD deposited on an Indigo gift card, the approximate retail value of your child’s height in books based on the following number and value chart.

(hereinafter each a “Prize” and collectively the “Prizes”)
12. The maximum approximate retail value of the Prize is five hundred Canadian dollars (ARV $500.00) per Store. The total maximum approximate retail value of all the Prizes available to be won in this Contest is: eighty-thousand Canadian dollars (ARV $80,000.00 CAD).
Prize Redemption Restrictions and Conditions:
13. The Prize must be accepted as awarded, without any representations, warranties or conditions whatsoever and Indigo expressly disclaims any and all such representations, warranties and conditions. The Prize is non-assignable, non-transferable, non-refundable, non-exchangeable and is not convertible to cash. Indigo reserves the right in its sole discretion to substitute the Prize for a prize of equal or greater value (based on the approximate retail value of the Prize as stated in these Rules), including without limitation a cash award, if the Prize cannot be awarded as described herein for any reason. All details and other restrictions of the Prize not specified in these Rules will be determined by Indigo in its sole discretion.
Winner Selection:
14. On or about August 29, 2026 (the “Draw Date”) at every participating Store (including Online), one (1) draw will be conducted by a designated Indigo Store representative and an Indigo Head Office representative for Online Entries, who each will randomly select one (1) eligible Entry (each a “Selected Entry” and collectively “Selected Entries”) as potential winner from all eligible Entries submitted during the Contest Period at that Store. Odds of being selected as a winner depends on the total number of eligible Entries received at that Store during the Contest Period.
15. Each Selected Entrant will be contacted within 24 hours by Indigo representatives following the Final Draw Date via e-mail at the email address submitted with their Entry (the “Notification”).
16. Before being declared a Winner, the Selected Entrant must, within two (2) business days of the Notification:
a. Confirm compliance with these Rules by signing and returning a Declaration of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release (“Declaration and Release”) which:
i. Verifies the date and time the Winner will pick up the Prize from the Store in accordance with these rules and willingness to participate in a Winner celebration and photo session upon pick up;
ii. releases the Promotion Entities from any liability, losses, damages and expenses which may be suffered or incurred in connection with this Contest or the Prize; and
iii. provides acknowledgement and consent to the use, without further consideration, of they/their name, city and province/territory of residence, book review, comments and photographs or other likenesses for publicity and promotion purposes by the Promotion Entities in any and all forms of media and waives all rights (including moral rights) with respect to printed, broadcast and other forms of publicity; and
b. Successfully answer, unaided, a mathematical skill-testing question (which may, in the sole and absolute discretion of Indigo, be administered online, by e-mail or other electronic means, by telephone, or on Indigo’s form of declaration and release). Indigo may, in its sole discretion, provide an alternative to the mathematic skill-testing question or vary the requirements to perform any skill-testing component of the Contest to accommodate entrants with physical or cognitive disabilities.
17. If a Selected Entrant: (i) does not meet the above requirements, or (ii) is unable to satisfy any of the eligibility or other requirements set out in these Rules, such Selected Entrant will be disqualified from the Contest at the sole discretion of Indigo and the Prize will be deemed forfeited by that Selected Entrant and such Selected Entrant shall have no recourse toward Indigo or any other person or entity involved in the Contest. In the event that a Selected Entrant is found ineligible, a repeat of the Final Draw will be conducted from all remaining eligible Selected Entries in accordance with the process set out above. This process will be repeated until a Winner has been declared. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Winner must be confirmed by no later than: 5:00PM ET on September 29, 2026, otherwise the unclaimed Prize will be null and void.
18. Once the Selected Entrant is declared a Winner, they will be advised by Indigo where and how to redeem their Prize.
19. If a Winner indicates to Indigo they will not be able to collect their Prize, the Prize will be deemed forfeited by that Winner and Indigo reserves the right to award the Prize to an alternate Selected Entrant who has been selected and qualified as a Winner in accordance with these Official Rules.
Conduct
20. Indigo reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entrant it finds to be: (a) violating the Rules; (b) tampering or attempting to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Contest; (c) acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person; or (d) for any other similar conduct. Any attempt by an entrant or any other individual to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest may be a violation of criminal and/or civil laws. Should any such attempt be made, Indigo reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Limitations of Liability
21. The Promotion Entities are not responsible for lost, stolen, late, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, damaged, garbled or irregular Entries, Notifications or Declaration and Release documents, or for any Entries not received or not processed for any reason, including any technical or human error.
22. The Promotion Entities are not responsible for any errors, omissions, incorrect or inaccurate information in these Rules, other Contest-related materials, including without limitation, printing or advertising errors, failure of or problems with any other equipment or programming associated with or used in the Contest howsoever caused. In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the terms and conditions of these Rules and disclosures or other statements contained in any Contest-related materials, including but not limited to the Contest entry form, or point of sale, television, print or online advertising, the terms and conditions of these Rules shall govern and control. In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the English language version and the French language version of the Rules, the English version shall govern and control.
23. The Promotion Entities are not responsible for any: failure of or problems with store operations, labour disputes public health emergencies, the Internet; problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment or software; failure, interruption or delay of any entry or e-mail to be transmitted or received or processed, including failure resulting from technical, human or other error or theft; technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or combination thereof, including injury or damage to an entrant's computer or mobile device or to any other individual's computer or mobile device related to or resulting from participating in, or downloading any material, regarding the Contest or accepting a prize; the security or privacy of information transmitted via computer networks or for breaches of privacy due to interference by third party computer “hackers” or otherwise; any communication not received due to an entrant’s spam filter, user’s system or internet connection; and late, lost misdirected, or unsuccessful efforts to notify a potential Winner.
24. The Sponsor is not responsible if any factor beyond their reasonable control, including weather, event cancellations, strike, lockout or any other labour dispute at their locations or the locations of any other organization or business whose services are used to fulfill this Contest, prevent any Prize or any component of a prize from being fulfilled. In any such event, the Winner will not be provided with a substitute Prize or a substitute component of the Prize, as applicable, except at Indigo’s sole discretion.
25. Under no circumstances will the Sponsor be required to award more Prizes than is indicated in these Rules or award the Prize other than in accordance with these Rules.
Protection of Personal Information
26. By entering the Contest, each Entrant consents to the collection, storage, use and disclosure of their personal information for the purpose of administering the Contest by Indigo and for the purposes described in these Official Rules, in accordance with Indigo’s privacy policy found at https://www.indigo.ca/en-ca/legal/privacy-policy/.
27. NOTICE FOR RESIDENTS OF QUEBEC. By entering the contest, you consent to the collection, storage, use and disclosure of personal information for the purpose of administering the Contest by Indigo and for the purposes described in these Official Rules, outside of Quebec, in accordance with the Indigo privacy policy found at https://www.indigo.ca/en-ca/legal/privacy-policy/ .
28. By entering the Contest, each entrant acknowledges that the Promotion Entities may communicate with entrants via e-mail with respect to communicating the results of the Contest and the awarding of the Prize. No marketing communications will be received by entrants unless entrants provide Indigo with explicit permission to do so.
General
29. This Contest is void where prohibited by law and is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations. The Contest and these Rules are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
30. Indigo reserves the right, to modify, suspend, terminate or reinstate the Contest or the Rules at any time, without notice, and for any reason. If the Contest is terminated, in whole or in part, before the designated date, Indigo reserves the right to select the Winners in a random drawing from all eligible, non-suspect entries received as of the date of the termination. Inclusion in such drawing shall be each entrant’s sole and exclusive remedy under such circumstances.
31. All Entries become the property of Indigo and will not be returned and no correspondence regarding the Contest will be made with or entered into except with the Selected Entrant(s) and the Winner(s).
32. The Winner’s first and last name will be publicly available at the Indigo Head Office at 620 King Street West, Suite 400, Toronto, Ontario M5V 1M6 and may be posted on www.indigo.ca and other Indigo marketing channels or materials.
33. All intellectual property, including but not limited to trademarks, trade names, logos, designs, promotional materials, web pages, source code, drawings, illustrations, slogans and representations are owned by the Sponsor and/or their affiliates. All rights are reserved. Unauthorized copying or use of any copyrighted material or intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.
