It was about 0215 hours when I was awoken by the first rocket hitting the camp, shortly followed by the second one. I know this because I felt the BOOM! in my chest. A feeling that I had not experienced since I was living on the airfield in Mogadishu, a feeling that I rather hoped I would never have to experience again . . . Seconds later, the Kandahar Airfield air-raid siren sounded . . .

Retired Captain Adam J.
