“Inspired by a fairy tale, this romantic tale has an air of dreamy nostalgia.”
—Publishers Weekly

“Stunning…offers a timeless meditation on self-acceptance and recognizing the beauty that already exists within...The gentle narrative unfolds with the cadence of a classic folktale while offering a reassuring message about embracing one’s authentic self rather than striving to become something else. The mixed-media illustrations are nothing short of breathtaking...A beautiful read-aloud with wide appeal, this elegant tale encourages readers to let their own light shine.”
—Booklist, STARRED review

“A truly original tale that reminds young readers to see the inherent value in themselves and others….Stunning….Truly luminous.”
—Kirkus Reviews, STARRED review
