A Canadian True Crime Masterpiece

"Excellent book. Well researched and thoughtfully written that allows the reader a perspective of the crime and individuals involved that would have been lost to history."

A Great Read

"What a great read! This is an unbelievable true story that focusses on the lives of several people in small town Ontario. At times I had to remind myself that this is non-fiction, with real people and real lives. It follows a crime and trial that takes many twists and turns. Barrie does a fantastic job at creating a picture of all the people involved. The book is well organized into two parts. If you are interested at all in crime novels, whether fiction or non, get this book. You will not be disappointed. I hope there is another book in the works."

“After a distinguished career as an outstanding criminal defence counsel, Brian Barrie has written this riveting memoir chronicling one of his first murder cases. It reads like a skillfully crafted whodunnit. Yet, it’s all true. He takes us through the chaotic lives of a cadre of misfits, until one of them is brutally murdered. The trial is a battle royal between a truculent Crown Attorney and Barrie. He quotes liberally from the actual trial transcripts to build suspense to a dramatic but satisfying conclusion. So many twists and turns. You won’t be able to put it down.”
