INSTANT #1 NATIONAL BESTSELLER • Finalist for the Writers' Trust Shaughnessy Cohen Prize for Political Writing • One of Indigo's Top 10 Wellness Books of 2024

“Health for Indigenous communities—the foundational contributors to what has become the Canadian health care system—is more than caring for the body but centres the mind, heart, and spirit too. As Indigenous peoples have always known, health is a collective process necessary for an entire community, not just any one individual. Jane Philpott understands this, and gets how health operates best in this place, with Health For All acting as her brilliant and innovative call and map on how to revitalize Canada’s most important and oldest institutions.”
—Niigaan Sinclair, author of Wînipêk: Visions of Canada from an Indigenous Centre and columnist at the Winnipeg Free Press

“There are two questions I keep asking about public figures: Can they think for themselves, and are they trying to help? With Jane Philpott the answer to both is a resounding Yes. This brave book is part memoir, part manifesto: Philpott proposes a major health-care reform, then tells us about the life’s work that brought her here. We need more serious conversations about real things in this country. Which is why we need Jane Philpott.”
Paul Wells, journalist and author

“Jane Philpott humanely advocates for access to primary care for all. Through a vivid storytelling, anchored in her unshakable faith, deep sense of meaning and purpose, she brings us hope. A must read for all future and current healthcare workers dreaming about a healthcare system doing more for each Canadian.”
Dr. Joanne Liu, M.D.C.M. FRCP, former International President of Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF)

“A profoundly insightful meditation of what health—physical, mental, spiritual, and societal—really means, coupled with a thoughtful analysis of the links between health and politics. Health For All is a healing balm for what ails Canadian health care, and democracy more broadly.”
—André Picard, Globe and Mail health columnist, and author of Neglected No More

Health for All is a timely and important reflection for this moment in our healthcare system. I was moved by Jane Philpott’s personal story and medical experience, which serve to reinforce how exceptionally qualified she is to prescribe a solution for the primary care crisis in this country.”
—Dr. Bonnie Henry, Provincial Health Officer, and co-author of Be Kind, Be Calm, Be Safe

“This book is just like its author: brave, thoughtful, full of practical ideas and brimming with hope.”
—Danielle Martin MD, author of Better Now: Six Big Ideas to Improve Health Care for All Canadians

“Medicare unites Canadians around common values but needs our care. In Health for All, Jane Philpott, the first family doctor to serve as Canada’s Minister of Health, points us toward better Medicare and a healthier future.”
—Roy Romanow, QC, former Premier of Saskatchewan

"Through vivid storytelling and sharing her personal and professional experiences, Philpott engages the reader intellectually and emotionally to understand what is needed to create a healthier Canada."
