💔 Scripts, Sparks, and Second Chances 💔

"A witty and heartfelt romance that balances sharp banter with emotional depth. Kuang writes with warmth and cinematic flair, making the characters feel both messy and real. A little predictable at times, but still a charming read that lingers."

A definite winner

"Plot twists throughout the entire book. Hard to put down. First time reading this author and would definitely read her again."

Enemies to lovers read

"4 stars A better than expected enemies to lovers romantic story. I was skeptical for it to have a happy ending, not just because of the book’s title. There’s a whopper of a story as to why this romance can’t work out. There are intimate sexual parts that had me flushed as the two main characters discover their relationship."

Great Romance Read for Women in Their 30's

"This book was a lovely romance read. There were real stakes for why the two might not be able to get together which provided realistic tension. There was a great demographic hit for those in their 30's, which I find a little hard to find for women. Steamy sex scenes, coupled with business talk. This isn't some high school romance, it was targeted for an older audience which I appreciated. The end of the book felt rushed though. I wish that had been fleshed out more. The main character went back and forth between being shy, and being confident which was exciting to read. I like reading novels where women are more empowered, especially sexually."

A beautiful read

"This novel brings about the complexities of grief and the ways each of us processes it. It is compounded by the responsibilities of being from an immigrant family. I think many young adult from an immigrant family can relate to the struggles and themes this book captures. It is beautifully written yet still witty in its nature."

Please read - 6 stars

"How to End a Love Story by Yulin Kuang is an absolutely beautiful and deeply impactful read. It explores far more than just love and heartbreak—it delves into the unique pressures of being the eldest child of immigrant parents and the sacrifices that often come with it. The story sheds light on how we can easily neglect our own desires in the pursuit of approval, and how that can affect our ability to form healthy relationships with ourselves and others. It poignantly portrays the struggle of accepting healthy love when you’ve never had a true example of it. This book resonated with me so much that it brought me to tears—I felt seen in a way that I rarely do. I highly recommend it to anyone who knows the weight of these struggles. It’s a must-read."

Love it!

"The 3rd person point of view was a little off for me, but the story line was great! Found myself resonating too much with the main character. Loved the build up!"

"related to some topics and the way the climax was handled was different than usual books! mild read"

Worth the Read

"How to end a love story, is such a well-throughout romance touching on such important human experiences, while also providing a romance that you want to root for despite how much it doesn't make sense on paper. This is great read for people who want to step out and venture into a book they normally wouldn't read. It also is so exciting to have the main characters be screen writers, the behind the scenes of the process of writing is so fancating and beautiful to read about."

Neha (5/5)

Not your typical romance story

"Easy read, reads like a film. Enjoyed the interesting premise that brought them together, and a bonus is that there is an Asian girl at the centre but it’s just a part of her identity but it’s just a part of who she is and gets to be a full person"

“If a '90s rom-com grew up and went to therapy, this sparkling book would be the result. … Sexy and tender. This book is a raised glass to second chances and late bloomers.” - NPR
“Screenwriter Kuang’s debut beautifully probes the lingering effects of grief and guilt while offering readers a glimpse behind the curtain of Hollywood glamour. … Kuang handles her characters’ complex emotions with sensitivity and skill, and makes the chemistry between Helen and Grant leap off the page. Readers will have no trouble rooting for these two.” - Publishers Weekly
“[A] mature, compelling and relatable story of healing that resists simplifying its characters at every turn. … Kuang’s own experiences as a screenwriter shine through on every page. Her depictions of writer’s rooms and meetings with executives are lush, smart and visual, with each sentence packed full of insightful nuances and quiet moments of reflection. These are characters who have battled their demons and come out the other side, stronger than before. Were this a movie, it would be Oscar-worthy."  - BookPage (Starred Review)

"Impossibly tender, funny, sexy, and heart-wrenching, How to End a Love Story is a gorgeously original romance -- and so much more -- that will leave you laughing, sobbing, and desperately wishing that it would never end. This is the kind of glorious gut-punch of a book that you'll want to share with all your friends, and reread over and over. I fell in helpless love with Helen and Grant's unforgettable story, and I wouldn't have it any other way." - Lana Harper, New York Times Bestselling Author
