Reviews

Kobo has terrible customer service.

"I bought the Sage Kobo nearly six months ago and the battery has already failed. The battery lasts less than 24 hours. It has to be constantly recharged. Kobo's customer service is terrible. Kobo refuses to exchange the failed Kobo for a new one. They will only give me a refurbished Kobo."

Big and sturdy with convenient features

"An excellent e-reader for the casual or avid reader. The screen is big and the side panel with buttons is really easy to use and excellent to hold. The screen brightness scroll is a great feature. Overall feels sturdy and nice texture on the back. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for their next e-reader."

Best 8 inch eReader out now

"Had it for 2 weeks now. And in my opinion it is the best eReader in its class. That is 8 inch reader that is waterproof and with Black and White screen. I say B&W screen specifically because there is a serious problem with colour screens, they are significantly dimmer and not as crisp as the B&W screens. If you are looking for a best possible black text with a decent screen size (for reading manga especially) you wont find anything better than Kobo Sage. Other than Kindle Scribe maybe. But unfortunately outside of USA, Kindle's library integration is not the best. I live in Canada and so cannot borrow library books on a kindle. While with Kobo it's very easy. Now the battery life. I'm sure many of you have heard that it's not the best with Sage. From my experience it has not been that bad. I only did one full charge cycle so far and it lasted me for 29 hours of reading. I was able to finish one 500 pg novel, and 2 200 hundred page manga comics. While at same time reading about 300 pages into 3 other novels. I did this in about 12 days. At the same time while in transit or reading outside my home (maybe 25% of my reading time) I used Kobo Power Cover. So the charge was topped up a little bit. Still, I find that 12 days of reading before having to plug it into the wall outlet to charge is not bad at all. It's about 12 times better than your average iPhone which looses full charge after about 10-12 hours of use. And for someone, who is always close to an outlet and does most of his reading at home or for 1-2 hours on the way to work and back, it's more than sufficient. What really matters to me is the beautiful B&W screen with its exquisite contrast and sharpness for both plain text and black and white images. Added notes: I don't really use backlight, preferring reading with natural or lamp light. When I did use backlight which was seldom it was usually at about 14%. Similarly, I did not experiment with the writing functions. My eReader is for reading mainly."

Prefer Kobo Libra

"Runs out of juice fast compared to other e-readers. Very sensitive for example suddenly an unexpected font change is triggered."

New updated Kobo

"I finally had to update my Kobo. The new one has a bigger screen and is easier to turn the page with front buttons. I like it."

Sandra (4/5)

Read in the dark

"I am new to this format. Very efficient way to read - font size easily enlarged or minimized. No need for a bookmarker. Light weight and portable. Lighted screen allows one to read outside on a warm summer evening, long after the sun has set. Awesome. However, it does take practice to learn how to navigate the pages and reap the benefits of all the features (i. e. built in dictionary)"

Sage

"So far it has been a game changer, always struggled with what books to pack and bring and now I just have to bring this! Absolutely love it, glad I went with one that has buttons as well."

B B. (5/5)

Very good eReader

"Kobo Sage is a good size eReader and using mechanical pixels gives the same impression as reading a paper book. Easily connects to a computer to transfer PDFs."

Taghi (5/5)

Loving it!

"Works well. Light and water resistant. Can access books from the library and PDFs from my Google Drive. Lots of older classics are very inexpensive."

Kevin V. (5/5)

Love but….

"I love the Kobo Sage but the one downfall is the buttons for turning the page. They are not really user friendly and are hard to click unlike the others."
