Awesome Sauce

"sorta like a doomsday kinda thing. I had to take a moment after reading, felt lowkey depressed."

Joeann C. (4/5)

A sad, beautiful tale.

"The most unique storyline with heart-rending witness to the fate of memorable characters."

Marcie (5/5)

For all my dystopian lovers!!!

"Such a great book!! Kazuo Ishiguro was my first interaction with Japanese literature and he definitely did not disappoint! The plot was thoughtful and well written, had me wanting more"

Arubaaa (5/5)

Beautiful and heartbreaking

"Ishiguro’s storytelling keeps you on edge- how he paints a picture of Hailsham and the Cottages- places where Kath, Ruth, and Tommy’s characters grow in this dystopian novel. I’m drawn to how Ishiguro describes the roles of the characters in the novel, the roles, and the limited knowledge of the ‘outside. ’ I don’t know to describe how special this book is to me, it’s beautifully written and heartbreaking, and I’ve been left thinking about this story even after completing it. This is the second book I’ve read from Ishiguro after Klara and the Sun. I’m definitely a fan and would recommend this story. I’ll be reading more of his work in the future!"

Tee. (5/5)

Must Read

"Kazuo Ishiguro has never failed me. His work is so intimate and through provoking that I am left thinking about it for the weeks to come."

Neha (5/5)

Page Turner

"Loved the flow and the pacing. The beginning of the book was really strong and captured childhood incredibly well. The ending was a bit of a fizzle for me but overall a very enjoyable read that I couldn't put down."

Renn (4/5)

I like that the title you can really reflect to the main characters experiences.

"Really well written novel that has so many interesting concepts."

Megan (5/5)

Never let go of this book.

"A classic dark tale set in a dystopian world. Very well written and holding the reader’s attention to the end. The characters are believable given the circumstances in which they find themselves."

W N. (5/5)

An Elegant Elegy

"We know that memory is our greatest human gift, and Ishiguro’s Never Let Me Go confirms this mantra. Ishiguro, in his impeccable telling, draws us into his story through characters, although imaginatively contrived seem real, so that we care about them like family, and cannot wait to turn every page to follow their fates."

Eleanor (4/5)

A Stunning and Refreshing Narrative

"Wow! What a beautifully written and deeply haunting narrative. The narration style is deeply innovative and personal, and the plot certainly turned this novel into a page turner for me. Themes of belonging and isolation, the search for meaning, and the heavy weight of the truth will immerse any reader deeply as they get to know the protagonist and her community at Hailsham and beyond. Ishiguro’s texts are ridiculously engaging and descriptive, and this work is no exception."

“A feat of imaginative sympathy and technique. . . . Ishiguro has a way of pitting innocence against experience, while reminding us that we’re capable of both.” The New York Times Book Review

“Speculative, experimental, and humanly moving. . . . Miraculous.”The New Republic

“A page turner and a heartbreaker, a tour de force of knotted tension and buried anguish.” Time

“Brilliant . . . Ishiguro’ s most profound statement of the endurance of human relationships. . . . The most exact and affecting of his books to date.” The Guardian

“A Gothic tour de force.... A tight, deftly controlled story.... Just as accomplished [as The Remains of the Day] and, in a very different way, just as melancholy and alarming.” The New York Times

“Elegaic, deceptively lovely.... As always, Ishiguro pulls you under.” Newsweek

“Superbly unsettling, impeccably controlled.... The book’s irresistible power comes from Ishiguro’s matchless ability to expose its dark heart in careful increments.”Entertainment Weekly

“The year’s most extraordinary novel.” The Times

“Elegiac, compelling, otherworldly, deeply disturbing and profoundly moving.” Sunday Herald

“Ishiguro’s elegant prose and masterly ways with characterization make for a lovely tale of memory, self-understanding, and love.” Library Journal (starred review)

“So exquisitely observed that even the most workaday objects and interactions are infused with a luminous, humming otherworldliness. . . . An epic ethical horror story, told in devastatingly poignant miniature. . . . Ishiguro spins a stinging cautionary tale of science outpacing ethics.” Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“Perfect pacing and infinite subtlety. . . . That this stunningly brilliant fiction echoes Caryl Churchill’s superb play A Number and Margaret Atwood’ s celebrated dystopian novels in no way diminishes its originality and power. A masterpiece of craftsmanship that offers an unparalleled emotional experience. Send a copy to the Swedish Academy.” Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

Luminous. . . . [Ishiguro] nimbly navigates the landscape of emotion—the inevitable link between present and past and the fine line between compassion and cruelty, pleasure and pain.” Booklist
