“Fast and funny... Mack complements the twisty plot with Eleanor’s brisk and biting first-person narration, chock-full of amusing asides (often in footnotes) that examine the movie business and the craft of mystery writing. This one goes down smooth.”—Publishers Weekly

“Eleanor continues to be a sarcastic narrator who uses footnotes to speak to the reader. The novel is again full of pop references, romance, and a mix of suspects. It is an easy read that will keep you interested . . . to find out who did it.”—Booklist

“A zany, madcap murder mystery to please fans of Catherine Mack's series debut.”—Nita Prose, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Maid and The Mystery Guest

“Eleanor Dash is at it again, breaking the fourth wall with her signature wit and sarcasm in this entertaining whodunit a la Agatha Christie that'll leave you guessing until the very end.”—Jeneva Rose, New York Times bestselling author of The Perfect Marriage

No One Was Supposed to Die at This Wedding was an absolute delight! I whizzed through it in a day . . . A glamorous setting, a smart, witty narrator and a delicious murder plot that picks you up and whisks you along at breakneck speed! More than a masterclass in cozy crime, it’s probably the most fun you'll have between the pages of a book!”—Janice Hallett, bestselling author of The Appeal

“A laugh-out-loud page-turner as well as a complex, layered mystery, No One Was Supposed to Die at This Wedding was so much fun! Catherine Mack’s books are the perfect vacation read and I’m already looking forward to the next one.”—Mia P. Manansala, author of the multi-award-winning Arsenic and Adobo

A Funny Light Read

"3. 5 stars This was such a fun read! Think of the fun murder mysteries akin to Stephanie Plum by Janet Evanovich and know that this book (along with this series in general) is similar. Not in content but stylistically with a humorous, quirky, and somewhat hyperactive main character. This book (again along with the rest of the series) would be a good read to pick up for vacation where you want to read a mystery with an element of 'lightness' to it through humour and writing style. It's light, it's easy to read, and although there's dark content (murder mystery duh) it doesn't feel graphically gruesome. I did NOT anticipate where this story was going in regards to the. . . villain. Even if I tried to predict what was going to happen, it would not have been what was eventually revealed. What a surprise. I definitely will be reading the next book in the series!"

A blast of a meta mystery!

"“𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝’𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐚 𝐦𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫. 𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐬𝐤? (𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬, 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭?)” The second book in the Vacation Mysteries series will have you laughing and gasping in delight! Eleanor Dash wants nothing more than to bask in the celebration of bestie Emma’s marriage on Catalina Island; should be a piece of cake right? Wrong. With an impending storm, a disgruntled cast of guests, and an attempted murder plot, can Eleanor help save this wedding, or will it be til death do us part?! Catherine Mack nails the blend of cozy mystery and comedy in this book. Eleanor’s commentary had me laughing out loud in many spots, including using footnotes to once again add to the charm and humour of the story. They also serve as a way of recapping book #1 while also highlighting clues that really makes you feel like you can follow along with Eleanor to solve the crime. The returning characters have appropriate development and feel like reuniting with friends, with the new suspects adding much suspicion and drama (I also loved the clever way Mack has Inspector Tucci return)! While the story doesn’t take itself too seriously with a dysfunctional wedding at its core, that doesn’t mean the mystery isn’t meticulously plotted. The reveals are shocking, while also following fair play rules; I did think the denouement of theories went a little long, but it delivered a very satisfying punch at the end. With book #3 referenced in both the title in a footnote and in that epilogue, I am already eagerly anticipating Eleanor, Oliver, Harper, and Connor’s next adventure! No One Was Supposed To Die At This Wedding is a total blast of a mystery, perfect for fans of Benjamin Stevenson and Glass Onion."

Always a Bridesmaid, Never the Bride

"A real page turner. Love the journey and how I feel like I'm there! A benchmark for the genre."

Fun but no character development

"I enjoyed WHENEVER I GO ON VACATION SOMEONE DIES by Catherine Mack and when the character Eleanor is talking about her best friend's wedding at the end of the first story and again there's another murder I was interested in reading the sequel NO ONE WAS SUPPOSED TO DIE AT THIS WEDDING. It's a fun, non-scary murder mystery but this time the new characters don't feel very flushed out and the returning characters don't have much character development in my opinion. The extra twist at the end of figuring out the murderer was great but i didn't enjoy the spoiler for the third upcoming novel: shocker, someone will die. The return of the footnotes are annoying but not as tedious as the first novel. They're not needed unless you're confused about some of the quirky statements and that just felt pretentiousness. It was a fun read and a person could read the second novel without reading the first but the returning characters and storyline will make a lot more sense if you read the first novel."

Linda (5/5)

Mysterious, intriguing, and atmospheric!

"No One Was Supposed to Die at This Wedding is a cosy, amusing tale that takes us back into the life of writer Eleanor Dash as while taking a break from the set of the movie adaptation of her book to attend the wedding of her best friend on Catalina Island, somehow annoyingly finds herself once again in the company of a murderer. The writing is descriptive and light. The characters are sharp, creative, and quirky. And the plot is a well-paced, witty whodunit full of misdirection, clues, suspects, red herrings, solid deduction, and drama. Overall, No One Was Supposed to Die at This Wedding is a fun, twisty, easy read by Mack that’s refreshing and highly entertaining."
