Good Concept, Lushly Described

"Interesting twist on individuals with powers, suspenseful and well told, can't wait to see how the rest unfolds."

Ben W. (5/5)

Love this world!

"I enjoyed it so much I wanted the story to continue which is why I bought the second book!"

Bella (5/5)

An Amazing Dark Victorian Fantasy!

"I picked this up on the off chance just from the title and I was not disappointed! As far as darker Victorian-style fantasy goes this is an excellent read. Apparently this is the first novel in an historical fantasy trilogy and it sets the foundations well. I can't wait for the rest."

Cliff (5/5)

Fun Summer Read! Fantasy for everyone!

"I am loving this story. It isn’t an unfamiliar idea but the Victorian setting gives it a sense of something written long ago. I am not sure how it it will end but it is an exciting read. Oh and I bought the audio book on audible. The narrator doesn’t do all the voices exactly as I imagine but he has done a wonderful job capturing the essence of the characters."

Bill (5/5)

I LOVE MARLOW

"I picked this book up randomly off one of the display tables. The cover caught my eye and thought to give it a chance. Started off slow but then I fell in love with little Marlow. Marlow is literally the best written character. I literally kept reading it for him. The premise of the book itself is not new, but really are the characters that make this book compelling. Looking forward to reading the next one. Because of the slow start, it took me about a month to read but after about page 150 I finished it in 2 days. Give it a chance if you're on the fence about it!"

Ordinary Monsters

"Not a bad story just had a really hard time getting into it"

NA (3/5)

Interesting story.

"Very captivating and interesting story. Well written."

Riii (5/5)

Good read

"Enjoyed it, loved the world and characters. Found it a bit slow at times"

Amy S. (4/5)

Great read

"Starts slow but very well detailed pulling you in for more."

Kitty (5/5)

More complex than I thought

"This one won’t be for everyone — it’s dense and wordy with a lot of characters and a lot of side plots. I was completely immersed, though, and the book was delectable in its creepiness."

Ordinary Monsters is a towering achievement: a dazzling mountain of wild invention, Dickensian eccentrics, supernatural horrors, and gripping suspense. Be warned . . . once you step into this pennydreadful to end all penny dreadfuls, you’ll never want to leave.”
—Joe Hill, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Fireman and Heart-Shaped Box

“From the very first page, you’re pulled into a world of hope and fear, dark and light, the known and the unimaginable—a world that is equal parts magic and pain. Readers should prepare themselves: there’s nothing ordinary about Ordinary Monsters.
—Alma Katsu, author of The Fervor and The Hunger

Ordinary Monsters is one of my favorite books of the year—it’s full of surprises, atmospheric as hell, and moves like a runaway train. Nothing in this book is what you expect it to be, and it couldn’t be more satisfying.”
—Kelly Braffet, author of Save Yourself and Last Seen Leaving
