Key concepts and ways to take action are featured in this useful series. Examples of real community projects, youth activists, and their impact will inspire readers. Many small steps are suggested (taking quick showers to conserve water and using reusable water bottles) as well as larger ones (starting a community garden or school recycling program). A glossary, a “Read More” section, websites, and an index are included. VERDICT The focus on practical and age-appropriate actions kids can take to make a difference elevates this series. An essential purchase for libraries and classrooms.
