"The question—how will she get out of this? But behind the pleasant veneer, Anna Harris has a delightfully devious heart, and she skillfully finds her way. Sharp, atmospheric, and a definite nail-biter, Tracy Maton has crafted a brilliant debut. I flew through the pages and didn’t want it to end."
—Nicole Lundrigan, bestselling author of A Man Downstairs and An Unthinkable Thing

“A spectacular debut that’s compelling, twisty, and surprising. . . . Maton’s exploration of her main character’s psyche, deep dark secrets, and destructive modus operandi are equally genius as they are wicked and addictive. A sinister must read!”
—Hannah Mary McKinnon, internationally bestselling author of A Killer Motive

"With brilliantly complex characters and a plot that unfolds with unnerving inevitability, Anna's story is chilling and deeply engaging by turns. I loved it."
—Philippa East, bestselling author of Little White Lies

"Bitingly twisty. . . . A darkly fascinating story with memorable characters and a propulsive plot that keeps you guessing until the very end, The Artful Anna Harris is as chilling as it is entertaining. Highsmith would be proud.”
—Buzz Magazine (UK)

"The spirit of Patricia Highsmith lives on in Maton’s impressive debut about an obsessive young teaching assistant. . . . [The] cool, unreliable narration calls Tom Ripley to mind, but Maton freshens up familiar tropes by giving her protagonist uncommon dimension. The result is irresistible."
—Publishers Weekly

"A female twist on The Talented Mr Ripley. . . . Maton's protagonist is less calculating than Ripley but just as ruthless . . ."
―Sunday Times (UK)

"Darkly delicious."
―Sunday Post (UK)

"Clever, sassy and great fun. . . . Highsmith would surely approve."
―Daily Express (UK)

"Rarely has a book delivered so spectacularly on the promise of an unlikeable lead character but Anna Harris is every bit as artful and awful as this reader could wish. Highsmith herself would raise a glass"
—Sarah Hilary, author of Fragile

"Pacy, thrilling and fun... An excellent debut."
—J.M. Hewitt, author of The Life She Wants

"Beautifully written and suspenseful with sinister Highsmith vibes, this book will get under your skin."
—Caroline Hulse, author of The Adults

"Dark, clever and utterly compulsive. Anna Harris is an intriguing character with a mask for every occasion: witty, loving, vulnerable, and—when the need arises—ruthless. Full of sly humour and exquisite tension."
—Guy Morpuss, author of A Trial in Three Acts

"Twisty, elegant and darkly addictive. I didn't just read this book—I let it quietly rearrange my assumptions about everyone I know."
Joanna Wallace, author of You'd Look Better as a Ghost

"An intriguing cat and mouse game which will keep you reading into the early hours."
Tina Baker, author of Call Me Mummy
