Reviews

Easy read full of wisdom

"Valued learning the definitions of love and belonging. Love how Brene weaves in her personal stories, lessons while teaching her audience. Easy read full of wisdom!"

Happy C. (4/5)

Not a mind-blowing read

"The book had some decent ideas in it but over all the tone of the book was very anxious. It reflects the mindset of the surveillance society we live in (where every little thing is criticized on social media, to the point where even mundane things like having fun with your kid is a moment to assess panic). It felt a little contrived, as if the author was constantly trying to get you to laugh and relate to her. It almost made me feel opposed to the core meaning/teachings of the book. Overall I think this is a good book for people that are really struggling with this topic but for me it wasn’t my style and having read a few “self help” books, it seems to follow the same formula as most and teaches the same core principles. If you are new to self help books, I would recommend it, but if you have read a few you can easily skip this one"
