"A delightful quick read! Few titles considered to be ""classics"" hold up today with modern practice of complex character writing but Journey to the Center of the Earth offers charming characters and several legitimately hilarious moments backed by vivid description and an approach to hard-science fiction using the knowledge contemporary at the time that certainly makes the book a worthy read for anyone with an interest in the foundations of science fiction or even the pop-culture surrounding scientific discourse in geology at the time. That being said, the book features an ending which seems abrupt by modern sensibilities, as do many classics of similar age."
