Difficult

"This is where the series gets difficult. Again we have another cover that doesn't portray anything in the novel, and we're still dealing with the boring politics which doesn't really go anywhere. And here is also where the author delves too much into the mentioning of rape. It's a bit much to be honest."

Getting through the series with difficulty

"I don't know if it's the writing or the way the author breaks up the paragraphs/chapters and jumps around a lot in the story but I feel like I don't really know any of the characters. I generally have to look up when someone who isn't a main character is mentioned because I have generally forgotten who they are and why they are important to the story. It also bothers me the way all of the sorceresses are portrayed as vain and they spend all this time making sure their hair, face, and outfits are perfect but the same frivolity is not portrayed with the sorcerers. Kind of rubs me the wrong way. I'm trying to persevere through and finish the series though."

Lots of Lore and Backstories

"Another book that reminded me of the game, in that the story is more of a journey combined with side quests and events. That said, the ground work was laid for some epic moments, grand adventures, and fierce betrayals. While the books moved back and forth between characters, I have to admit that Geralt's storyline was my favourite. He had some of the best side characters (more Milva and Cahir, please!) and the most action scenes. I also enjoyed the snippets we got with Ciri, even though her story took a darker turn. The biggest draw for me was the backstories of the side characters, more details and lore for the monsters, and some really cool history for the world. The ending took me by surprise, and I can't wait to see what this bridge-book leads to!"
