Reviews

Dark and captivating

"Surprised me in the best ways. The atmosphere is rich and immersive, and the story pulls you in quickly without feeling overwhelming. Some parts felt a bit rushed, but overall kept me hooked and wanting more (but also, to be expected from a standalone fantasy book)"

Lizz (4/5)

Fantastic Read Unsurprisingly

"Fantastic book, totally unsurprised at that coming from ML Wang. She is a master at creating emotional and powerful writing. Twist was a small but easier to spot than Sword of Kaigen but that did not diminish the books effectiveness or enjoyability at all."

Josh (5/5)

Incredible read

"What an absolutely amazing book. I can’t wait to read more from this author. Wow"

AlexaT07 (5/5)

Worth the read!

"Absolutely loved this book! Got me out of a reading slump"

Melissa T. (5/5)

Harsh, hopeful, invigorating

"The book doesn't shy away from looking at mankind's devastating history in the eye. The magic system is clever and very well thought out. I couldn't make sense of some character choices by the main leads and that took me out every now and then, but I still read this book from cover to cover within 24 hours."

PS96 (4/5)

Such a greast book.

"Such a greast book. My first (what I'd consider) high Fantasy. Was so so good!! It took me a while but worth every minute."

Bookishjada (4/5)

The feminist anticolonial dark academia revenge fantasy of my dreams

"If you loved Iron Widow - the rage, the bloodthirstiness, the vindictiveness - you'll love this searing indictment of white woman allyship and the complete destruction of the societal structures that perpetuate oppression."

Sara (5/5)

Yay Books!

"Haven’t read this book yet but I’ve heard a lot of great things. Sword of Kaigen was beautiful and I’m excited to step into this new adventure."

Jessie (4/5)

What a way to get back into reading.

"An addictive read full of excellent world building, memorable characters and a huge payoff."

Emily (5/5)

A Fantasy Commentary about Modernism

"A well-written, self-contained story about a woman attempting to break the glass ceiling in a world that places progress over human life. The writing, plot, and worldbuilding show a book that is well thought out, with strong themes and an interesting world. I removed one star as I wish the characters could have been explored more."
