NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The apocalypse will be televised! Welcome to the first book in the wildly popular and addictive Dungeon Crawler Carl series—now with bonus material exclusive to this print edition.
You know what’s worse than breaking up with your girlfriend? Being stuck with her prize-winning show cat. And you know what’s worse than that? An alien invasion, the destruction of all man-made structures on Earth, and the systematic exploitation of all the survivors for a sadistic intergalactic game show. That’s what.
Join Coast Guard vet Carl and his ex-girlfriend’s cat, Princess Donut, as they try to survive the end of the world—or just get to the next level—in a video game–like, trap-filled fantasy dungeon. A dungeon that’s actually the set of a reality television show with countless viewers across the galaxy. Exploding goblins. Magical potions. Deadly, drug-dealing llamas. This ain’t your ordinary game show.
Welcome, Crawler. Welcome to the Dungeon. Survival is optional. Keeping the viewers entertained is not.
Includes part one of the exclusive bonus story “Backstage at the Pineapple Cabaret.”

Dungeon Crawler Carl is Perfect Modern Pulp Fiction
"Dungeon Crawler Carl is deeply creative story that serves to prove that litRPG can be more than shallow power fantasy. DCC is well-paced between moments of hilarity and serious tension, and manages to balance a tone of absurdity with legitimately compelling dystopian politics. If you are a fan of fast-paced pulp fiction, video-game inspired worlds, or science fantasy in general, then give DCC a read!"
— Benjamin (5/5)
Brain Candy
"Dungeon Crawler Carl is pure happiness. The story makes my inner child beam and there is so much room to expand systems. This book was perfection and I can’t wait to see what comes next for Carl and Donut!"
— Max H. (5/5)
Amazing start to an amazing series
"This is a super silly (and yet also super perceptive) series about a man and his (now) talking cat who get stuck in a LitRPG reality game show as part of, essentially, the apocalypse. It's science fantasy, I suppose. Princess Donut is amazing and you should read it for her alone, but Carl (and the concept of the series and its execution) are also pretty great. My only quibble would be that, while Carl seems mostly kind of progressive (he wouldn't have to be necessarily but he is our singular POV), and the reality game show dimension leans into gore and sexism as ways to critique them, there are a few weird choices here and there."
— John A. (5/5)
Carl and Princess Donut FurEver
"Great series—right from the start!! This instalment (the first) will get you hooked on Carl and Princess Donut and you’ll be out immediately seeking the rest. Hilarious and riveting."
— G D. (5/5)
Dungeon Crawler Carl
"Good mixture of lightheartedness/humour and deeper topics (morality, exploitation, etc. ), entertaining characters, and great, unique setting! (If you've read ORV, the setting of this book might remind you of it)"
— Keira (4/5)
Dungeon Crawler Carl is my new obsession!

For every D&D fan casual to serious and all other nerds in between, especially the video game junkies - and cat lovers. Also cat lovers.
"This is the most millenial book I have ever read. Feels like I'm watching the best Netflix series of the decade. Obsessed. So obsessed my husband took it to read too when I took a 10 minute break to feed myself and then hoarded it like an obsessive gremlin. Already bought books two and three, cannot wait to read both with him."
