Eldest: A Book of Unexpected Twists and Magic

"""Eldest"", is the second installation of Christopher Paolini’s book series, ""The Inheritance Cycle"". The book is a continuation of the story ""Eragon"", the first novel in the series, and picks up where the first book left off. In ""Eldest"", if you have read the first book, the journey continues for Eragon and Saphira after the Battle of Farthen Dûr. They are forced to make a hasty leave, however, as they embark on a lengthy journey to the Elven capital of Ellesméra. Alongside him, he is accompanied by Arya and Orik, with the goal of strengthening Eragon’s skills as a dragon rider in order to face Galbatorix. Upon arriving, Eragon is instantly immersed in the mysterious and mythical world of the Elven race. The culture, rich history, and enchanting art form of the elves captivate Eragon, making for an immersive experience to read about. As the story unfolds, we follow Eragon’s developmental journey, watching him evolve from a young man into a powerful dragon rider, that may be enough to take on Galbatorix. In summary, ""Eldest"" is truly exhilarating to resd, despite its length, compared to ""Eragon"". It offers a captivating storyline, as we witness his journey to mastering his magical abilities and swordplay skills. Alongside Eragon, we also follow his cousin Roran, tackling new duties of his own. The unexpected twists throughout the book make the book even more enthralling and enjoyable to read."

Great Fantasy Book

"Would definitely recommend reading the whole series and purchasing The Inheritance Almanac to have a quick reference for all the characters. Our 12 year old granddaughter is now reading Eragon and is quite enjoying it."

Re-buying an old favourite

"Hard to believe I could still find the hardcover. Still hoping for collectors edition some day"

Ashley (5/5)

Loved it!

"It was a very good sequel. Again, there is a lot of description. . . The pace may be a little slower, but the grand finale make up for the longest part of this story. The chjaracters are well developed, you get attached to them quite fast. . . even those that you did not like that much in the first book."
