“Instead of tap dancing around the hard parts, we’re drilling into the bedrock. We hear less from Presley and more from Keough, who comes across as level headed, valiant and kind. . . . Keough approaches the episode with respectful levity, the best tool available to members of a dysfunctional family. . . . Presley still gets a word in here and there, and these passages show how determined she was to stand up to her demons.”The New York Times

“When her actor daughter, Riley Keough, writes that she wants Lisa Marie to emerge from the pages of the memoir as a ‘three-dimensional character’, she’s not kidding . . . it’s clear that Presley was nothing if not radically honest. It’s also striking how Keough seems to almost plead with the reader to understand and love her mother as much as she does. Ultimately, this is a book built on grief: Lisa Marie Presley’s for her father and son, but also a daughter’s for her mother.”The Guardian

“The book is of two minds: It’s an unadorned, conversational memoir that’s more matter of fact than gossipy, little interested in preserving what her father’s biographer Peter Guralnick once called ‘the dreary bondage of myth.’ And it’s a frank, almost unbearably heavy meditation on grief. . . . Stunningly candid . . . Both women write gracefully about the unbearable, immovable heaviness of grief. Keough’s portrait of her mother in her final months is especially indelible. ‘I had mistakenly thought she was so strong-minded that nothing could ever truly hobble her,’ she writes. ‘But of course it could. Enough pain can hobble anyone.’”The Washington Post

From here to the great unknown

"Thank goidness this book was written alond with riley. . . thesexare the words from lisa marie presley. . she spoke her heart in this book and thankfully completed by riley. Lisa put her life into words and thoughts that we can follow each and everything. There were so many lues out there, too many to belueve. . . but, lisa put those lies to rest and gave us the truth. . . only words from lisa can mean so much and leave us wondering, why did that happen, how ciuod one's mother be like that and ignore facts when your daughter is telling you things that have happened and you as a mother choise to look away. Lisa brought her life to us and put it out there. This book is interesting, compassionate and unsettling because who knew the truth. . . lisa put it out there for us all to read and know the truth. . . the real truth. . ."

Read this if you’re on your healing journey…

"Beautiful read. Reading it from two points of view, allows the reader to truly understand Lisa Marie and what she endured throughout her short life. Sad, haunting and beautiful all at once. May she rest in peace. Her daughter completing the book made the book even more special."

Touching duo from beyond the grave

"I am not a huge Elvis fan nor a very knowledgable one, yet this book captured my attention from start to finish. The fact that Lisa Marie could not finish the book before passing away and her daughter was the one to finishing it gives it an eerie yet totally touching and original feel. You do not need to be interested in Elvis to sink into the lives of these two amazing women who stand on their own #IndigoEmployee"
