Validating and Practical

"This book took me right back to working under my former toxic boss (so content warning, I guess?). I recognized so many behaviours and felt a sense of community when reading the various quotes from folks who also worked in toxic environments. I am currently in a much better environment, but this book would have been a godsend when I was navigating my own exit strategy from that environment. I found this book very affirming - it emphasized for me that what I had dealt with was not right and that I made the right choice to leave. While I fortunately was able to leave my toxic boss, the practical strategies contained in this book would have been so helpful back when I first starting planning my escape. At that point I felt lost and overwhelmed, with no idea where to start. Laura breaks down the path to freedom in easy steps. I wish I had had this book back then! I also appreciated the section on ways to recognize a toxic boss in the interview/job offer stage, so that we can all avoid working for these people in the future. I highly recommend this book."

Toxic Bosses No More

"Kudos to Dr. Laura! This insightful book provides great advice for identifying, dealing with and recovering from a Toxic Boss. I especially enjoyed each chapter’s “Dr. Laura’s Coaching Breaks” which allows readers to delve deeply into their own experiences with thoughtful questions to ask themselves. As the chapters progress these coaching breaks build on each other and provide the reader strategies to build a plan for the future of their career. Her examples and quotes were very relatable to my own work experiences. I only wish I had this book to read earlier in my career."

A Must Read for Helping to Deal with a Toxic Boss

"This book is great for self-reflection and provides inspiration on what a great leader can be by dissecting the leader you don’t want to be. I especially liked the differentiation between Toxic Leadership and Difficult Bosses – neither of which I would want to be."
