Always helpful

"The lonely planet books have been my go-to travel helper since 1996. Always great to see the inside tips, the locations that aren’t easy to find on the Internet, and some real life guidance on where to stay and what to do. Seems to be a few less options for cheaper, travel, but that might just be country specific. It’s true, you can look up much of this on the Internet now, but these are still a great and easy way to plan your trip in advance, and to carry with you in case you don’t have the Internet. It saves you from scrolling hundreds of pages. Recommend."

Must ABSOLUTELY have!!!!!

"The best travel guide! I have the one from Thailand too and they are amazing: very detailed, a lot of cities by country and interesting facts. The pictures are beautiful."

Lots of great info, prepare for eyestrain!

"This is a nuce and comprehensive guide for a first-time visitor to Japan. Combining history, culture, food and lodging information, the book is super helpful for trip planning. My only critique is that the type size is quite small, making it a challenge to read for extended periods of time. Otherwise, a great resource."

Great Book for Trip Planning

"The travel book has good information and some pictures to give you an idea of what’s to all see in an area. Train information and suggested itineraries are also present for some cities to make the most of your time. In looking at a few travel books for Japan, I found this one to be the best/most useful and comprehensive."

A complete and up to date (2024) guide on Japan. Definitely worth the read if Japan is your next destination.

"It covers all regions of Japan in a very detailed and well organized way. It has some nice tips for travellers and useful information for everyone who is looking to visit Japan. It has updated information on regions, cities, restaurants, bars, transportation, manners. . . Recommended if you are visiting Japan soon."

Kubilay E. (5/5)

Great starting point.

"Great overview of all the prefectures of Japan. Good tips and interesting facts for those just planning their trip to Japan. But would supplement this with official and unofficial online sources that could provide more info. Comes with a handy map of Tokyo."
