"By Eric Walters and Paul Coccia, ON THE LINE gets an enthusiastic five stars from this reader. ON THE LINE is a page-turning read from start to finish. It features a teen basketball star, Jordan Ryker, as he learns to navigate his parents’ separation and his father’s surprise announcement that he’s gay. Jordan and the entire cast of characters are utterly authentic, from his best friend and teammate, Junior, to his father’s new boyfriend, Brodie. While this book has issues at its heart, it is also a perfect read for sport-loving teens. They will be nodding their heads at the faithful depictions of basketball drills, plays, and skills. (Not to mention drooling and hungry after reading about the freshly baked breads!) ON THE LINE is a great story, beautifully written with all the fun and feels, and has a quiet yet powerful takeaway that will stay with you long after turning the last page. This is a book I would love to see in every school library!"

Paul Coccia is the author of The Player and the bestselling Orca Soundings title Cub, which was a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection. He has an MFA in creative writing from UBC and lives in Toronto with his family.

Eric Walters is a Member of the Order of Canada and the author of over 115 books that have collectively won more than 100 awards, including the Governor General’s Literary Award for The King of Jam Sandwiches. A former teacher, Eric began writing as a way to get his fifth-grade students interested in reading and writing. Eric is a tireless presenter, speaking to over one hundred thousand students per year in schools across the country. He lives in Guelph, Ontario.
