Ruth Ware, the powerhouse New York Times bestselling author with over six million books sold to date, returns with her ninth novel, which promises to be the summer’s most gripping beach read.
Lyla is in a bit of a rut. Her post-doctorate research has fizzled out, she’s pretty sure her contract will not be extended, and things with her boyfriend, Nico, an aspiring actor, aren’t going great. When the opportunity arises for Nico to join the cast of a new reality TV show, The Perfect Couple, she decides to try out with him. This is the big break she needs! A whirlwind preproduction process later, Lyla finds herself whisked off to a tropical paradise with Nico, boating through the Indian Ocean towards Ever After Island, where the two of them will compete against four other couples—Bayer and Angel, Dan and Santana, Joe and Romi, and Connor and Zana—in order to win a cash prize.
Alas, not long after they arrive on the deserted island, things start going wrong. After the first challenge leaves everyone rattled and angry, an overnight storm takes matters from bad to worse. Cut off from the mainland by miles of ocean, deprived of their phones, and unable to reach the boat and crew that brought them there, the group must band together for survival. Tensions run high and fresh water runs low. Then, one by one, contestants start to die. Lyla suddenly realizes she and Nico are trapped on the island with a murderer on the loose…and nowhere to hide.
A fast-paced, spellbinding thriller rife with intrigue and characters that feel true to life, this novel proves yet again that Ruth Ware is the queen of psychological suspense.

"The ultimate trouble-in-paradise thriller, One Perfect Couple is timely, gripping and all too plausible. The Love Island / Lord of the Flies mash-up you didn't know you needed."--Erin Kelly, The Sunday Times bestselling author of The Skeleton Key

Resourceful women survive a harrowing experience
"Though not a fan of tv reality shows, I was completely caught up in the riveting story."

Slow burn
"It started slow with a lot of character building and some of it was definitely over kill or had no bearing on the plot. But then it got really good and I couldn’t put it dow"
— Grace (4/5)
Antiques and murder mix well
"This is the first of a new cozy mystery series and it was fun to read, but would have been better without the drawn out “mystery” of what happened in a Cairo. Nevertheless, I’m looking forward to the next book."
— Lise B. (5/5)
Fodder for a Voracious Reader
"Popular Pulp. Bought by my wife. She seemed to like it"

Disappointed
"Love , love , love all of Ruth Wares books…. except this one. It went on way too long building only to come to what felt like an abrupt end to a predictable storyline from the jump. I was disappointed. If it were a tv program it was one of those where it felt like it was just wrapped up quickly because they received word the were being cancelled."

One Perfect Couple - Plot Twists Weak
"This is Ware's 8th novel in the mystery/thriller genre. Although the theme - a reality television series filming on an Indonesian island - is a bit 'on the nose', her use of frantic radio messages and Zana's diary entries keeps one wondering what will happen to the contestants. The first person narrative, with Lyla as the narrator, worked well as it was easy to keep track of the various characters. Ware's writing style was informative, yet brisk, so Lyla keep the story moving while helping us to visualize the environment in which the contestants struggled. The story line reminded me of 'One By One', a previous Ware novel, which was a struggle to finish. Was this an attempt by Ware to rewrite this story of several characters stranded in a tough situation, each of them struggling to survive yet not everyone makes it? There are a couple of plot twists but no where near as surprising as previous Ware novels. I found myself more annoyed than intrigued by some of the incidents faced by the characters. Why didn't the female characters - and ultimately, the survivors - have discovered what they had in common with each other before they were rescued? Figuring out why they were selected, by Baz, to compete in the One Perfect Couple reality television contest may have added to the interest and tension if it had been introduced earlier in the story. As a result, leaving this awareness to the ending chat left this reader disappointed."

Another Ware Classic!
"A fun read that kept me on the edge of my seat. As always a strong heroine but with a neat different perspective."
