Kept my Teen's Attention Away from Screens!

"Bought this for my teen. He said he enjoyed it. It pulled him away from screens for a few hours so it must be good!"

Even Stalker's need a Lunch Break

"This Soviet-era sci-fi brought us not only a fantastical story of struggle and pushing forward without fear, but an entire genre in itself as well as a few games to boot. It's a must-read for sci-fi fans."

Miller (5/5)

Good Soviet-era sci-fi

"The book is an intriguing science fiction exploration of an alien visitation. The narrative is checkered with peculiarities I can only contribute to its Russian origin, creating a fascinating juxtaposition between otherworldly artifacts and gritty Soviet realism. Dirty politics with a spattering of haunted house adventures into a scary zone of alien leftover trash, most of which is trying to kill you. The only problem with this story is its too short, not allowing a proper dive into the broader ramifications of an alien visitation."

Fun read

"I read this book because of the stalker series, awesome read!"

Elduderino (5/5)

A science fiction classic

"I came at this through the Tarkovsky movie ""Stalker"", which is actually quite different from the book. The movie is understated and meditative, with almost no action. The setting is described by the characters as weird, but looks like any abandoned place (though that, in itself, makes it rather creepy). The book, however, is much more classically science fiction (albeit with a Russian flavour). There's great imagery and ideas, but it is a little dense - which isn't helped by the translation. This can be hard reading, but is absolutely worth it for science fiction fans."

Marzipan (4/5)

Cool universe

"This novel has an incredible premise that is so ripe for opportunity, and although the authors mainly deliver, I was a little perplexed by some of the their plot threads and how they didn't take full advantage of the situation they had created. I feel like this universe could actually have multiple entries and I would be intrigued to read them all, but the fact that the authors chose to highlight such specific aspects of it also makes me wonder why those aspects were so important to them."
