Author - Jim DeFede

"This book was quite readable. I purchased the book not realizing the author was an American journalist, and when I did know that, I was concerned as to how he would write about the citizens of Gander. The author actually did a great job of explaining all of the background organizing that had to take place to accommodate the planes that landed in Gander. . . particularly how many different federal and provincial governement departments needed to be contacted. The stories that we see tend to refer to the local communities who organized themselves to provide food, lodging, showers, etc. . . all of those ""basic necessities"" we tend to take for granted."
