Reviews

Different purpose means different experience

"This book was written as part of the Canadian literacy program for adults, and therefore is a faster paced, skeleton version of Penny’s typical narratives. It is not necessary to read this novella if you are reading through the Gamache series. Now for my review. . The writing in this reads nothing like Penny, and I even searched online if perhaps it was written by a team rather than Penny herself. It seems many others were in the same line of thinking, but she did in fact write it. Gamache seems very out of character, there are thoughts and actions that seemed out of place for him. The usual attention to detail was lacking, while at the same time included in odd places, with a moment lending to romance that goes nowhere and is not brought up again. If you are not a completionist who needs to read every book in a series, I would not recommend reading this one."

"Louise Penny and her Inspector Gamache series are one of my favourite author/series ever. My wife loves her too."

An Easy, Fun Addition To The Inspector Gamache Books

"I have read all of the Louise Penny series with Inspector Gamache and loved them. I knew this one was not part of the actual series, but rather a short mystery written for young people, but decided to pick it up anyway. It was a very easy read and I can pass it along to my young teen grandchildren now to see if they enjoy Inspector Gamache as much as I do."

Incredible Concept

"A great way to connect with emerging readers. Ongoing readers of Louis Penny will be left wanting more. However, the idea is so great I can’t help but highly recommended it"

The Hangman

"Quick read of Louise Penny. The same genre of her other books, face paced, heart thumping suspense!"

Hidden Gem

"Love Louise Penny! Wish more people new about this book in her Three Pines Series"

Canadian Whodunit!

"An okay read, but very sparse in content for price point."

Mini-Gamache

"3. 5*. A condensed version of a true Gamache book. In some ways that was nice because you just get all the clues and revelations faster. I still prefer the longer ones you can sink into. No food and drink descriptions in this short version! I’m used to feeling starved reading about the food in the Gamache books haha"

"Louise Penny as always is excellent. I love that she adds factual historical info as well."
