Reviews

An atmospheric thriller!

"The title itself has ominous vibes, and The Midnight Feast delivers a tasty slice of terror amidst a dark backdrop. This creepy thriller begins with the spoiler that things will not end well. A building on fire and a body in the water set the tone for the book. From there it’s a slow burn which escalates with twists and turns, leading to multiple revelations about the characters and their background. So much to pull together (in a good way) to understand what on earth is going on. It’s the opening of a new luxury resort, and the party of the year is about to roll out at The Manor. But the past intrudes on the festivities with dark secrets kept not only by the owner, but by the guests as well. The tragedy of fifteen years ago resurfaces as Foley reveals connections between the guests and the history of the land on which the resort stands. Everyone has something to hide. Told through multiple points of view and flashbacks, the story follows unlikeable main character Francesca in her pursuit to provide the ultimate resort vacation on the property she inherited from her grandparents. With her architect husband, Owen, and her trusted staff, everything is set to go off without a hitch. Except for the protestors who believe the land is being infringed upon, the local superstitions, and the omens that predict disaster. An eerie atmosphere abounds in the ancient forest with local folklore about the birds. The supernatural blends with cult activities, and one is never certain what is real and what is imagined. There’s a gothic feel to the setting with unexplained happenings amidst mystery and horror. For a chilling thriller that will keep you up at night, shivers running down your spine, The Midnight Feast fits the bill. Just be sure to read with the lights on and doors locked."

I've enjoyed it so far

"I have not finished it yet, but I'm enjoying it so far! I'm reading it as part of a little book club and it has been fun theorizing about who did what"

Twisty

"Great twist, kept me guessing until the end, loved the change of character perspective each chapter, also a different read. Haven’t read anything about being a retreat in the woods and (birds) - good touch"

Veronica (5/5)

Intriguing

"I didn’t start reading but I loved the two books that I read from Lucy Foley"

Joelle (5/5)

Easy peasy cheesy

"It was good but a little cheesy and expected, very easy read though!"

JazzP (3/5)

Better as a short story

"Quirky thriller with a focus in folklore. Believe it would have been a fantastic short story vs novel. Felt like certain storylines dragged on."

Midnight feast

"loved the reveals and twists. Usually, you expect one big twist but the author gave us multiple twists. It was a fun quick read, some twists were easy to spot and others were shocking"

Foley does it again!

"Another amazing twist-and-turn tale from Ms. Foley! I have read all of her books, and this one does not disappoint! As always, delicious descriptions of the landscape and the various characters backgrounds, plenty of webs to keep track of, and as always, an ending that makes you yell ""WOOOOAH! Wait. What?!"""

Amoore01 (5/5)

"Very easy read. Interesting an articulate story. Worth every page. Lucy has a way of creating scenes that draw on your imagination and make you want to explore each character. Highly recommend!"

Couldn't put it down!

"This is my 4th Lucey Foley Suspense novel and it didn't disappoint! I love how she plays with timeline in her novels so you aren't sure who the vitcem is later in the book. A great read!"
