"Center, the prolific author of many romances, clearly understands what it takes to create a winning romantic comedy and puts Charlie and Emma through many of the most delightful rom-com tropes (enemies to lovers, forced proximity). But the book, like all of Center’s work, doesn’t completely eschew darkness—both Emma and Charlie are dealing with trauma and grief. A winning romance that deftly balances heft and humor." --Kirkus

"Winsome and charming, Center's latest is that perfect blend of romance and overcoming life challenges that her readers treasure." --Booklist (starred review)

“This rom-com about a rom-com offers a pretty predictable storyline, but the enjoyment comes from the tongue-in-cheek commentary on its own genre. As Center writes, ‘If you’re surprised by the ending, somebody wasn’t doing their job. We all know where it’s headed. The fun is how we get there.’” --USA Today

“Grumpy Boy and Sunshine Girl is one of the best tropes and it’s back again in this meta romcom…will the kissing come off the page to the other page? We’ll find out, and I will likely be squealing like a pig throughout!” --Betches

“Katherine Center offers another source for the pleasurable charms readers of Hilderbrand will soon be desperately jonesing for.” --Parade

“The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center is a delightful, hilarious love story that fans of Emily Henry will be eager to dive into this summer.” --BookTrib

“If you’re into Katherine Center’s rich character development and a juicy enemies-to-lovers romance, read this.” --The Skimm

“For a good cry, many laughs and a big hit of dopamine, read The Rom-Commers, a story about an aspiring screenwriter looking for real-life love. I’m a massive Katherine Center stan, and this book is her best yet.”—Emily Giffin

“Among the countless romance books on the market these days, The Rom-Commer is the best replacement for rom-com movies.” --Screen Rant

A romance for romance readers

"This is a romance book for romance readers. It’s sweet, a perfect amount of sassy and a whole lot of heart. If you like forced proximity, a complicated hero, some banter and an emotional rollercoaster this one is for you!"

Great dialogue and romance

"The Rom-Commers strikes the perfect blend of humour and romance. With its charming but complicated characters, in true Katherine Center fashion, there was depth and lightheartedness that made this story so memorable. _x000D_ _x000D_ I adored the female main character, Emma, with her emanating light and seeing the world through a positive lens even though she was placed with many difficult obligations. Charlie was almost as equally lovable but in his own unique way. The back and forth dialogue between the two was so good and I loved both of their character arcs. _x000D_ _x000D_ The narrator, Patti Murin, did a fantastic job with character distinction and the emotional tones."

Katherine Center does it again!

"I love Katherine Center books and this latest doesn’t disappoint."

Bookhoarder (5/5)

Feel good rom-com

"The Rom-Commers by Katherine Centre is a light-hearted, predictable rom-com. When Emma gets her first real shot at writing a screenplay with a famous screenwriter she can’t quite believe her luck. That is until she comes to understand the reasoning behind her big break. But, being the girl she is, she just plows in full steam ahead to show them what she’s made of. Her only fault, never fully living in the present and always worrying about the past and the future. Will she be able to put aside her pettiness to be able to work with Charlie? And will Charlie be able to accept that sometimes we all need a little nudge to make us great? I loved the wittiness of the dialogue between the two main characters and, though I was not surprised by the ending, I did love it!"

Perfect summer read

"This book gave me exactly what I expected of it!!! The perfect summer read!"

Fun, enjoyable read

"I have read a number of Center's books and have always enjoyed them, and the Rom-Commers was no exception. I liked the characters. I liked the premise. I liked how they grew into a relationship with each other. And while there were no real surprises to how the book evolved, I wasn't expecting any. It was a quick read, and great for a holiday or when you need a pick me up story. Emma has a lot to deal with and romance seems to be her way to escape from the things that keep her tied to her home. At the same time, she has a very supportive family and seems to have a great relationship with them despite everything that she is carrying inside. Charlie is a bit of a butt, but he's a loveable butt. I spent most of the book picturing him as a younger Harrison Ford. Maybe that's me. Maybe that's who he's modelled on, well, without the whole writing of scripts bit. _x000D_ _x000D_ The crossover with The Bodyguard was well done. Not forced which I appreciated, and not done in a way that would require you to have read the previous book in any way. You could simply read this and not even realize there is a crossover, which is how a good crossover should work. _x000D_ _x000D_ If you are looking for a feel good romance or like romances that involve characters who are celebrities, this is a great pick. And if you have liked Center's books before, then that doubles the odds of you liking this one."

Another winner for this author!

"Emma Wheeler’s career is just about to skyrocket when she realizes she has to press pause and head to Texas. Her father has just had an accident and in Emma's life, family is more important than her screenwriting internship. _x000D_ _x000D_ Divorced screenwriting legend Charlie Yates doesn’t believe in love. Perhaps that’s why his romcom fails. Charlie also doesn’t co-write. He’s won multiple awards on his own and doesn’t need help. When his agent hires Emma to help Charlie rewrite his script, sparks fly. Charlie thinks it’s beneath him to have an amateur come to his aid…especially since he didn’t agree to the help. He soon discovers that Emma’s expertise is exactly what he needs. _x000D_ _x000D_ The banter in this workplace romance had me giggling and gasping aloud in public! I can always count on Center to pull me out of a funk. She writes such authentic and heartfelt stories, mixes them with real-life moments, and adds a dash of sarcasm and humour. I loved how her characters brought out the best in each other and gave each other the opportunity to rewrite their own life story. Healing, for these two souls, is a process and reading about them working together to forge their happily ever after was beautiful. As with all KC reads, I feel like I want to hug the book when I’m finished. Most importantly, I always feel noticed and am always reminded to be gentle with myself - I’m a work in progress. _x000D_ _x000D_ Note:_x000D_ The Rom-Commers isn’t a sequel to The Bodyguard, but Jack Stapleton does make a cameo. Charlie in the Rom-Commers wrote the screenplay that made Jack famous. _x000D_ _x000D_ I was gifted this copy by St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review."
