Just Okay

"Very fantasy style, fire and brimstone tyrannical religion vs witchcraft in the woods. It was okay, not bad when you’re getting into Immanuelle’s past and the sigils and how break the plagues. Not as scary creepy as we wanted for Halloween month."

Emanley19 (3/5)

An amazing book

"This book was recommended by one of the staff. I haven't had time to do much reading in the past few years, but I couldn't put this down. If you like the stories of ancient witches, love and faith this is an amazing story."

Graceb (5/5)

Hauntingly beautiful!

"Excellent book that pulls you in through both curiosity and thrill. I couldn’t put it down!"

Megan (5/5)

Dark and terrifying -- a fantastic read!

"A terrifying and dark story that is a truly impressive debut by author Alexis Henderson. This gothic tale follows Immanuelle, a young woman who is always the outside in her devoutly fanatic community. With a notorious mother and unknown father, Immanuelle is raised in her grandparents' home, trying to blend in and be as subservient as possible. The author explores race, gender, religious zeal and violence and does it cleverly. I couldn't put the book down -- even though I was often disturbed, sad and yes, scared."

CarolineN (4/5)

Halloween Mood Setter

"This book has set the mood for Halloween and fall for me. It’s capturing and dark, hard to put down. I will probably read it a second time before the dark of autumn fall completely."

Emma (4/5)

Lucky (5/5)
