Wonder-ful Story

Melissa (5/5)

Wonderful

"Great book - helps to talk to kids about differences and how we need to treat everyone with respect and kindness."

Kylie (5/5)

I LOVED THIS!

"The Mayor of our town came into our school and read this book to the students. It was amazing! Such a great book and it is highly recommeneded!"

Nicole (5/5)

Too simple and heavy handed

"I bought this book for my kids aged 3 and 5, and unfortunately they lost interest in this one pretty quickly. The illustrations are quite engaging, and the message of the book is a great one, however the meaning of the book comes across in such a direct way it is not particularly interesting or well developed. I think my kids would get more out of the actual book version when they're a little older."

Minlen (2/5)

It helps if you show your kids the trailer

"My six-year-old daughter was able to read the book on her own but it doesn't explain that the protagonist underwent surgery and he looks different from others. She can tell the boy is different because he only draws himself with one eye but she wasn't sure why he was not ordinary. After showing her the movie trailer, she was able to enjoy the book thoroughly."

MamaReader (4/5)

Great Pictures

"I bought this for my child and we enjoyed reading it together. It also has fantastic pictures to go along with the story - they are imaginative and creative."

Jennifer (5/5)

R. J. Palacio was born and raised in New York City. She attended the High School of Art and Design and the Parsons School of Design, where she majored in illustration with the hopes of someday following in the footsteps of her favorite childhood author-illustrators, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Maurice Sendak, and the D’Aulaires.
