A haunted past. A train with no stops. Thirteen hours to reckon with the truth.
In 1954, Anna Matheson boards a luxury overnight train bound for Chicago that she’s commissioned, along with a list of names and a heart hardened by loss. Twelve years earlier, during the height of World War II, six people shattered her family’s life. Now, under a false guise, Anna has orchestrated a chilling reunion—trapping each of them aboard.
Her plan is precise: confront the ghosts of her past, unearth long-buried truths, and ensure justice is waiting at journey’s end. But when one of the passengers is found murdered before dawn, it becomes clear that Anna isn't the only one harboring secrets—or seeking revenge.
As the train hurtles into the icy night, Anna must navigate layers of deception, reckon with the cost of vengeance, and come to protect the very people she came to condemn. Because someone on board is determined that none of them—Anna included—reach the final stop alive.

A propulsive thriller!
"Okay, so this book, recommended by a friend, piqued my interest with its premise. And although it started out as a slow burn for me, with the introduction of characters and their backgrounds, it quickly picked up steam and took off at the speed of a runaway train. The intricate weaving of their lives through flashbacks is done with a purpose. All the past stories of the players connect to the current storyline and lead to their current predicament. The ultimate locked-room mystery, With a Vengeance is exactly what the title promises. A tale of revenge, executed with a passion. Twelve years after a painful loss, Anna entices the six people she holds responsible for her ruined life onto a train for a surprise reunion. No other passengers, and no stops until they reach their final destination where the FBI await their arrival, and justice will be served. As the train barrels down the track, it becomes apparent there are more people onboard, and one of them is a killer. The fate of the six passengers may be justice in a different form than Anna has planned. Told through the point of view of each of the characters, the complex plot is full of twists, culminating with dizzying revelations. One after another, the shocking truths are exposed during this propulsive story in which more than one person seeks revenge. Definite Agatha Christie vibes with the added thrill of a haunted woman trapped in the cage where she has imprisoned her worst enemies. A great post-war historical mystery/thriller on a luxury train bound for Chicago, With A Vengeance is a fast-paced, tense and suspenseful ride. Agatha Christie fans will devour this in one sitting!"

Loved it highly recommend."

Jane Hepburn, the dark horse of the killer lines crime novels festival
"Found this novel to be quite entertaining and finished it very quickly! Jane Hepburn was a fantastic lead, feeling both connected to her and hoping for her success. So many twists and turns, even when you thought you had it right, all of the sudden you were yanked in a different direction and were wondering all over again. Fantastic read!"

Riley Sager does it again!!
"Haven’t read a Riley Sager book I didn’t love- and this one was no different. Excellent thriller - fast paced and kept me guessing right to the end with all the twists and turns with the many different characters. While I did find this one a little different from the other Sager books I’ve read as it’s set back in the 40s and there a lot of different characters in this book!! But it still lived up to the great read I’m used too with his books!!! Can’t wait for the next one!! Sometimes I wish authors could write as fast as I could read!!!"
