"So many dizzying twists you'd better not drive after reading!" —Linwood Barclay, New York Times bestselling author of Parting Shot

"Shari Lapena poses the question: How well do you know your spouse? . . . Lapena keeps the well-developed twists churning, with each a surprise notch in this ever-evolving plot, and she continues this skillful storytelling until the stunning twist at the end." —Associated Press

"Smart, twisty and compulsive. Suspense and suspicion accumulate relentlessly, toying with your expectations and your emotions right up until the packs-a-punch ending. Don't miss it, and don’t expect to be able to put it down." —Gilly Macmillan, New York Times bestselling author of The Perfect Girl

"Great suspense and lots of twists." —Toronto Star

"A diverting page-turner." —Publishers Weekly

"Smart and suspenseful . . . you'll never see the ending coming." PureWow

"Lapena ups the stakes by narrating from the viewpoint of both husband and wife, as well as by chucking in a firecracker of a plot twist. . . . Her deliberately unemotional prose style enhances the creeping sense of dread throughout." —Metro (UK)

"A Stranger in the House will have you sleeping with the lights on for weeks." —Bustle

Reviews

Good read but hoped for a better ending

"I’ve read a few of Shari Lapena’s books and have loved them from start to finish, and although this one was well written I don’t feel like she gave the end enough thought or closure. It felt a little loose and rushed. It won’t stop be from buying another one of her books though, hopefully this was just a one-off."

Beck (3/5)

Pretty good thriller

"This is the first book of Shari Lapena's that I am reading and I was a bit hesitant going into it, after the mixed reviews. However, once I got started, I found it was very easy to read and it was exciting enough that I kept wanting to know more and more. The book combines the main character's past + love life, that ultimately leads to a love triangle that turns things around. Somewhat predictable but a fast enough pace that keeps you wanting to read on."
