When musician Bruce Hughes

"When musician Bruce Hughes suffered a sudden stroke, his world changed in an instant. Stripped of his ability to move or speak, he faced a daunting and uncertain road ahead. But with the fierce love of his wife Monica, the quiet comfort of his loyal dog Willow, and the unwavering strength of his community, Bruce fought his way back—not just to life, but to music. A Stroke of Luck is a heart-stirring and deeply inspiring memoir of survival, hope, and the extraordinary power of love. Hughes’s honesty, humor, and determination draw readers in, making his journey both real and uplifting. His triumphant return to the stage with his guitar is a truly moving testament to resilience. For anyone seeking a story that is raw, heartfelt, and full of hope, this book is definitely worth reading."

Goldmine of stroke information!

"If you or anyone you know has been affected by a stroke, you will quickly recognize a gold mine in this book. In May of 2017, Bruce Hughes was knocked down by a stroke which paralyzed all but the top few inches of his body. In his very personable and easy-to-read book, he gives you a ringside seat to a drama of spectacular diagnosing, pioneering surgery, skilled medical personnel devoted to his recovery, and his own stunning perseverance in willing his body to reawaken. In the course of it all, he shows us how to make friends and change the world with every move we make. Dubbed “Miracle Man” by the medical community for his unprecedented recovery, he is also a Miracle Man in the depth of his caring and compassion for every person he encounters, and for the world beyond that. You will learn everything you need to know about what is involved in recovering from a stroke, and everything you need to know about how to become the best person you can be."

I bought this book

"I bought this book for my husband who is a stroke survivor. Bruce has been a great inspiration to my husband as he worked to keep trying and improving his physical and mental health. My husband has worked hard to get where he is but there were times he wanted to give up but meeting Bruce and other stroke survivors online on a strike survivor 's group has kept him moving forward. THANK YOU for your book. I read it in a very short time. It was an easy read. I cried, I laughed and I was inspired."

Inspirational read

"This is an inspiring memoir by Bruce Hughes. I have not met Bruce but I feel like I know him now. This book is well written and easy to read. It shows us the importance of being our own advocate in all things medical. Bruce's positivity could serve as an inspiration for all of us."

Well written and a wonderful source of hope.

"Having met Bruce while my brother, Sam, was also recovering from a stroke, I was anxious to read the book and share in celebrating his remarkable recovery. Bruce's determination, his love of music, and his extraordinary ability to uplift others as he worked so hard to regain his health and mobility make him not only a ""Miracle Man"" but a special person. A great read and so proud of your accomplishments!"
