DARIUSH BORBOR is an architect, urban planner and Iranologist, Consulting Professor at Pars University of Art and Architecture and Art University of Isfahan, and Director of Research Institute and Library of Iranian Studies, since 1992. He is a multifaceted practitioner, researcher and scholar. This multidimensionality is precisely what makes the author’s choices of subject matters, and his points of view, wide ranging, diverse and stimulating. Borbor is a contributor as editor, consultant and author to the Encyclopedia of Urban Planning, Encyclopaedia Iranica, and the Great Islamic Encyclopaedia. He has published extensively on architecture, urban planning, history, ethnography and linguistics (Dariush Borbor Compendium of Articles, Presentations and Interviews 1954–2018, Tehran, 2018). He is the recipient of many international prizes and awards such as the Gold Mercury International Award, Italy, 1975; 50 Outstanding Architects of the World, the Second Belgrade Triennial of World Architecture, 1988; Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters, France, 2020; and was named as one of the most influential academic alumni of the University of Liverpool, UK, 2022.
